    spedometer gear

hey, i just picked up another transmission for my car and the spedomoter gear bolt mount is broken where it is held down, and on the old transmission the gear is blown to peices. i was wondering if is ok to leave it sit freely or will i have leakage problems from the transmission, it looks like its been broke for some time but i just want to be sure, damn cast steel

The vibrations would cause it to come loose, you'll have to drill out whats left of the bolt and possilbly rethread the hole

yea, its not the bolt thats broken, its the peice of metal that attaches to the pump. you know that pump that sticks out of the transmission and the speedometer cable is connected to it

    Re: spedometer gear

its just the metal part that bolts into the transmission the bracket is broke off so the whole pump sits there loosely

    Re: spedometer gear

you might be able to make something work with a oversize washer and a bolt to keep it held down or try something with JB weld, the sensor just need to be held down so it doesnt pop up, it doesnt have to torqued down.
    Hope this helps
