For Curiosity sake here. What heads can fit on my A20A3? If any can fit... I asked a buddy of mine who is a Honda head and he has never heard of an A series motor. So was wondering if it was possible to do a head swap...thanks guys

2G accord heads in U.S. are CVCC not a good move, unless Euro or Canadian spec, but then the blocks are different and the ET1 one wont fit, you can get a whole ET1 engine and bore it out to A20 specs and then you will get a slight raise in CR ratio but the A20 pistons are slightly domed whereas the ET1 pistons are nearly flat. Just stick with what you have, if you won't to increase CR ratio then re-build with B18 rods and pistons with flat tops and 3 valve reliefs, and skim the head and block a little.
yeah the prelude 84-87 head has stonger springs.

I guess... The kid knows his stuff though. I can't remember what the engine code he runs in his 93 civic hatch now, but its a 1.5 SOHC VTEC from Japan. It gets up and goes! The kid builds wire harnesses for these cars from scratch...he's insane. He's done lot of engine swaps and modifications on Hondas...he even at one time had a B16 (I think thats what it was) Superchraged all I can say holly crap fast! So yeah He may not know of the A series or OBd0 Honda, but he knows his stuff about his cars.sorry, but if he was REAL honda head, then he would know the a series.....
1.5l SOHC VTEC is gonna be d15
D-Series =![]()

Actually, the JDM D15 with VTEC was a pretty cool motor (if it's the one I'm thinking of). It had 3-stage VTEC, one stage for low RPM driving that got EXCELLENT gas mileage, one stage for around town, and another stage for high-rpm, more spirited driving. If I'm not mistaken, it got somewhere in the range of 40mpg and put out 135hp. Not bad for a little 1.5 liter motor.
not at all, the d motors get pretty decent power out of such little displacement. Whereas we have pretty decent displacement and such little power![]()
It's funny, when I took my a18 block in to be worked on they guy was totally surprised that it was cast iron. He said he had worked on a lot of Hondas but never seen a cast iron block.
Do people not realize that Honda existed before 1990?

no, they just dont realize that honda ever built a truly durable motor, they just think they were so finely tuned everything could be make out of cardboard.
Like I said his little car gets up and goes. He is running a skunk 2 Cam and 10.5:1 Pistons (I think thats what he said) said he gets around 150hp @7000rpm off the crank and 32 mpg. not bad for a 1.5 (which I give him crap about). Next time I see him I will ask what the Engine code is.Actually, the JDM D15 with VTEC was a pretty cool motor (if it's the one I'm thinking of). Ugg no offense to Honda but why can't it be as easy to swap the heads2G accord heads in U.S. are CVCC not a good move, unless Euro or Canadian spec, but then the blocks are different and the ET1 one wont fit, you can get a whole ET1 engine and bore it out to A20 specs and then you will get a slight raise in CR ratio but the A20 pistons are slightly domed whereas the ET1 pistons are nearly flat. LOL oh well I didn't buy my Honda for performance I bought it for Gas... no rebuild for this fella. But a swap I may consider. LOL
Well Whenever I show my car to anyone and they take a good look at it...I don't think soDo people not realize that Honda existed before 1990?![]()

Coming soon, wheels, drop, carbon fiber and if i ever decide, paint.
yeah the y8 came in the 96-2000 EX. not the 92-95 CivicsOriginally Posted by 89l_x_i

Yeah, I kinda derailed the shit out of this thread...Originally Posted by rjudgey
Back on track though, why won't the ET head fit on the A-series block? I thought the ET/BT/ES/A were all the same blocks with different bores and strokes... Maybe I need to go back and read the FAQ...
