8 volt preamps on a 2-4 volt amp input????

so Ive now got a choise to make. Ive got an eclipse cd8445 and a pioneer deh-p980bt. The eclipse with 8 volts on the preamps and the ppioneer with 5 volts. If I was to plug either of these into a phoenix gold amplifier that took 2 or 4 volts ( cant remember) WHAT WOULD HAPPEN

Well, if your amp can't handle 8 volts, don't hook it up... I would think that the deck should have a way to drop it down to 2 or 4 volts though. Sometimes just turning the Subwoofer Volume down is all it takes. I've never even heard of an 8 volt output. This stuff they're building anymore is so overkill and rediculous.

yeah, it'll be fine. should have a nice low noise floor, too. just make sure to set the gain on the amp to the lowest setting.

the only minor disadvantage is that the range of your volume control from the deck will be a little smaller (you'll just hit max volume at a lower setting).
