    Blower Motor Problem

I have an 89 honda accord lxi and have a blower motor problem still. I have replaced the blower motor and resistor. I removed the evaporator and replaced all orings and cleaned the fins out. I turn on the fan and it works but it just barely blows. I put my volt meter on it and it only has like 9V. Oh, I also replaced the diode right before the blower motor. It is driving me nut. A/C blows ice cold but barely blows so it's worthless. I hooked 12V up to the blower motor and it spun like it should then. Any ideas? Anything I can test? Let me know!!!

    Maybe a ground wire?
Where did you get the 12v source?

I played around with my fans once and completely sealed off the two fans by the doors and left the middle ones so they would blast a lot harder and would also reach the passengers in the back easier.

I jumped from the battery. I may replace the switch assembly. Maybe that will help? I don't know I am just a little irritated!

Test voltage out of the fan switch assembly. Most causes of low blower motor speed is the resistor. (but you replaced it) If it's not the fan switch assembly, then you have high resistance in the wire somewhere or the new resistor is bad.

    Re: Blower Motor Problem

Here is what I have found out. I am only getting 9V to the blower motor. I checked all the way back to the switch. I replaced the switch and still the same thing. I checked voltage at the switch and all it is getting is 9V. Any ideas? I am so tired of the a/c problem.

Must got some voltage drop going on. I'll try to get a print out of the wiring at work, off Mitchell 1 program.

Does anything else seem like it is getting low voltage? It could be a bad connection in the ignition switch

The fan switch controls the motor through the negative wire. Test between the positive at the motor and a good ground. If the voltage checks out, check the fan speed switch and its ground. If the voltage is low, check fuses, the ignition switch, and wiring.

must be in my wiring somewhere. I swapped out ignition switches and same old shit. I may rig it until I can find the problem. It is to damn hot not to have a good a/c.

    Re: Blower Motor Problem

The diagram I look at today looked similar to that. Might get a DVM & start testing the resistance from point A to point B. Electrical problems are tricky & hard to find. Hard to say without being there. Good luck!

    Re: Blower Motor Problem

If you do run a 12 v jumper to it make sure its the right size for the amperage and is fused JIC.

High should be fully grounded if you look at the schematic. So the 12 v seems to be the problem.

    Re: Blower Motor Problem

From my diagram I looked at, there might be a diode in the circuit that could be the problem. It shows it, put don't show where it is at.

Here is a tool I mess with to look at similar problems with. Has some good testing abilities if worked right. Called a POWER PROBE 2.

I ordered and replaced the diode even though mine tested out. It is driving me NUTS.
