you may possibly be running the risk of boost creep, but that's about it.

    Re: is open header ok

Well first it would be your DOWNPIPE not a header. You don't even have a header. It's a turbo manifold...

As long as hot exhaust gases won't be catching anything on fire the other problem you have to worry about is "boost creep." The stock wastegate is meant to operate with a certain amount of pressure in the exaust. This is why your boost has jumped up 5lbs. Does your car have enough fuel to support that extra air you're jamming in there? If not, you could be or will detonate your motor.

My rally car was a saab 900 turbo. 50 trim turbo, 3" down pipe to a side pipe right off the driver's side door area. No cat, no muffler, no nothing. Just a pipe. Yes it did shoot massive flames from time to time so be sure you don't catch anything on fire. Now the car was nowhere near stock, so it had the mods to support the extra boost. Same concept though.

Whoops.... didn't read the thread before I posted.

    Seems you have your answers.

I'd go ahead and say NO.

I wouldn't want an open exhaust that close to flammable liquids.

    Re: is open header ok

it got 5 more pounds cause ur wastegate holes too small and since u got no exhaust the wastegate doesnt do anything cause exhaust gases choose the fastest way out..eg thru the turbine. not out the wastegate

    Re: is open header ok

If you live in a cold climate area i would atleast have a cut-out, so i could close it when i turn off the car because the cold air can come up through your header and warp the valves after running at reg temp and then being drasticly cooled down by outside air. But hey it aint my motor...
