i know this probably been asked but i searched did'nt find anything.
my question is why is the accord final drive ratio so high,
like why on the highway in 4th gear t/c locked why does the engine seem to rev high?

I need 68/70mph for lock to stay in @ 3100 or so
not too bad for 86 _89 veh...newer veh.hang closer to 1500/1800rpm @ 66mph
yea my grand am gt did 75mph@ 2k rpms.
i know why you t/c is'nt staying locked....you have to adjust the t.v. cable.

for me 60mph of my carbed 88 its like 2.5k with stock LX-i rims and tires.
1989 Honda Accord LX-i
B18c1 swap since 7/2011
175whp and 132tq
Redzone tuned
yes I know about the cable, I have it set that way on purpose, I have a weber carb and the adjustment was tricky so I have to set for the best of both worlds. It shifts at around 2k , doesnt hang on gears too long yet stays in low gears when the pedal is mashed, just is finicky about staying in OD around 58-62mph ... it stays in OD after 65Originally Posted by accordlxi2.0
hmm...2.5rpms.
what about you lx-i auto guys?
that 2.5rpms@60mph is almost as low as my 05 civic ex...
that weber carb you you some good results did'nt it?

you need to build a linkage with a solonoid so you can switch lockup in when you want. in other words an over drive switch. that way when you are cruising you keep it locked in,also you can tie in an rpm switch so it disengages overdrive at a certain rpm. in other words if you hit the gas, the overdrive unlocks. summit racing also has an rpm range switch, you set it to turn on an accessory between a set number of rpms. also if you will look in the hot rod magazines, you'll see kits already made up to convert mechanical overdrive to electronic. they are for american cars but i'm sure they could be adapted.
noone knows the lx-i or se-i auto??
