    Fender Style Side Mirrors?

I was just looking over the latest post (very sweet by the way) and I wondered what the deal is with those fender style side mirrors. Specifically, (1) are they available and (2) are they street legal in the U.S.? Maybe this has been answered already? I just know that I've wondered for a long time how cool it would look to shave the existing door-style side view mirrors in favor of those. I've even considered the aftermarket (dreaded) chrome-style ones that you see in the likes of JC Whitney, but because those are intended for Chevys (I think) I always thought it would be a bit lame. I'm tempted to think they're legal for the older street rods but does anyone know if that's a grandfather type situation?

I don't see why they'd be illegal here. I think it's just a styling thing. I'd try to match up something as close to OEM looking as possible though. No chromies. Take a look at that new member from Malaysia. He's got the fender mirrors. Mad tyte JDM.

lol way to requote they are legal in the us and they are awsome about finding then I would probaly ask some AU or UK members to get them for you for shiping perposes. or find a car wth similer style mirors in a junk yard and make it work. or go buy my absolute fav fender mirors the 240z bullet mirors there about 50$ and you can order them they make any car llok better but work relly good on blue or black cars in my opinion maby orange

We never shared in the Japanese habit of frt mounted mirrors, & I remember a friend whose parents bought a '79 Nissan Cedric 4d Hardtop new in japan & brought it back was told they would have to be removed to register it here unless they could be adjusted from the drivers seat. Luckily they were electric adjustable though.
