    Re: 2008 Honda Accord review

the one downside is that they didn't include a 6-speed v6 in the sedan like in the coupe. it'd be nice to have that option available. or a 6-speed manual on the k24 motors in sedan or coupe. 5-speed is going to cut the mpg a little for sure. but overall, it's not a bad car at all. i read the review in car & driver and looks like a good buy (as always).

Is it just me or do you miss the old style Hondas? I love the look of 3geez and CB7's. That's a nice car, but it's losing its defined Honda style and look. Anyone agree?

Yeah that was the first thing i thought of when i saw the grill. The tailights on the sedan are a little eh for my taste but that interior is kick ass.

but on a brand new car? that's a little overkill, especially if one wants a brand new tranny. i wonder if you can order a 6-speed anyway on special order?

    Re: 2008 Honda Accord review

Also, it's interior & exterior dimensions have changed, so it's no longer considered a midsize car. Who da thunk?

270 hp out of the v6 ain't too bad, but I'll still take the 4 cylinder, which is making as much hp as the v6 of a few years ago.

Ditto on the front-end critiques. What's w/ designers having to include all these bulbous, fugly front ends these days? Is it part of Honda wanting to design a car for the masses? I guess they figure the lowest common denominator (of car design and style) really does appeal to the greatest number of people. (The fewer people you might offend translates to more people buying your product.) The Accord is the McCar of the World.

after the 5th gen i don't like the new accords. honestly there aren't many new cars that look appealing to me like the the 3geez does. aside from maybe new lancer, civic si coupe, mazda 6, mazdaspeed6 and I think that's it.

New cars are not for me.

    Re: 2008 Honda Accord review

I think it looks like a Hyundai Sonata.

Now don't get me wrong, I think the new Sonata is a fairly good-looking car, but there's something to be said for originality, not to mention if you're going to pick something to imitate, why Hyundai?

I think really good-looking Hondas ended with the EK Civic. Fit looks kind of nice, though.

So I think that review was boring and unimaginative, here's a better one that gives you a better idea of what the car is like

    http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...da-accord.html

Apparently the new tall front ends are to meet pedestrian safety standards in Japan and Europe.

I agree, new cars are nice but not appealing. I'm still young and only 17 and most kids want the best of everything, but i think that 08 Accord is ugly. The 3rd,4th, and 5th gens are nice. Honda and many automakers are losing their edge and look. Like the poster a few posts above said, you can barely tell each car apart w/o looking at the manufactures symbol. Damn.

Am I really the only person in the world that can still tell any car apart by just looking at it? Sure, a car may look similar, but hell, you have to remember that a big chunk of that problem can be attributed to safety standards.

I'm not such a fan of the dash, though.

I can still identify cars from the the body shape headlights and stuff like me and my friends compete on that skill lol. but it's annoying because everything looks the same now like the new lancer tail is the same shape as the new IS250. and the new accord looks like the fugly Camry sorry toyota fans.

    Re: 2008 Honda Accord review

Man I used to do that when I was a kid. I was good at it too. Still am.

Still think new cars look ugly, though. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so big.

According to the article I posted, the new Accord is bigger than an Acura RL, and about 2.5 inches shorter than a Chrysler 300. So much for Honda's mid-size, eh? A 3G is the same size as a Civic is now. Maybe even smaller.

    Re: 2008 Honda Accord review

yeah, i can tell cars apart by their headlights for the most part. (new) toyotas all have a circular orange marker on the inside of the lights, dodge charger is similar but different enough to distinguish (police use those out here), crown vics have orange 4-sided shape on inside, then orange corners, and so do f-body mustangs. that always gives me a little start. the new mustang is round headlights, four of them for a gt. etc etc etc.
and the civic is the mid-size car now, accord is the large car, and fit is the compact. i was parked next a civic the other day at work and took pix of the size comparison. our cars are essentially same size in length and shorter in height.

See i knew i wasnt' crazy at my last job everyone was telling that i should lease a new accord I was like that thing is huge. Honestly if there was maybe 6 inches more legroom in the back of the 3G but beggers can't be choosers. Lol i wonder if it's possible to increase rear room just a though

Seriously, this car is just ridiculous. I really miss the old Hondas.

They are expensive, imports are no longer cheap as like the way they started that's why small american cars are coming back focus, cobalt, aveo etc.

3geez forever, if i didn't find this i would be driving a prelude no younger than 1991. with 4ws
