    SZfiftyfour's 2G Accord Restoration

    Original thread

    New stuff
There's not much updating going on here though. It's been raining almost every day lately.
But I did manage to install some ACCEL super stock 8mm wires and a super stock performance coil. Waiting on my iridium plugs to come in. Also found out my dizzy cap is worn out. Getting that in tomorrow too.

My engine is filthy and the distributer cap is smashed somehow, but it still runs. Hopefully the new one shows up before I leave for Red Deer again tomorrow.

    Re: Ccord's updates

Here's a vid of an engine problem i'm having; maybe someone can help me out?
It stumble's at idle and during deceleration (coasting in gear). There's no problem during acceleration or basically any time the gas pedal is pressed (even just slightly). I didn't notice this before the Weber 32/36 went on. Although the stock carb before it was screwed up and idled high anyway, so it could have been doing it unnoticeably. I've replaced the dist cap/rotor/wires&plugs; So I'm thinking vacuum advance-retard problem/ bad distributor/ idle jets or air correctors wrong/ timing off. The video shows the rpm bounce then the exhaust at idle. The camera's mic picks up a clicking/popping sound from exhaust but its not, those are "puffs" of exhaust.

    Re: Ccord's updates

Have you gone through the Weber Lean-Best Idle process? There is a PDF out there on the intarwebs which will really help you get your car running smoothly.

I would follow this guide EXACTLY. I had some similar problems to what you're having and this guide really helped me tune it out.

    http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tec...lean_best_.htm

If you're still having problems, likely you need to rejet. In order to get your carb really running right EVERYTHING else must be good first. Mainly, just make sure your timing is set up to the best of your ability, and it sounds like you're good to go with the new plugs and wires.

    Re: Ccord's updates

    Thanks for the info!

That diagram came with my kit and i thought i did the lean-best idle exactly like it said, but maybe not. I'll check that again too. Might be getting the 4cyl jet kit from the same place because i know the air corrector is off. there's a hard shift from primary to seconary opening, like a flat spot or it boggs down for a sec. somethings not setup right.
I been meaning to check the timing but been working too much lately. Im off this weekend maybe i'll get something done.

You're right, it is a vac leak. The advance wouldn't hold vacuum when I tested it.

I finally got around to refreshing my bumpers and trim.

    After pics:

In the process I broke just about every one of those stupid plastic
trim tabs. Considering they're 25yrs old I figured I would. I went to
the parts store and got some similar sized ones. Hopefully they work.

thanks man, I was thinking of putting 2.5g bumpers F&R on it so i can color match them. Im wondering if the mounting points will be different though.

    Looks a lot better

As for 2.5g bumper, I don't know about the mounting points, but locals do that all the time, so I assume it won't be much problem.

Yeah, it's not going to be a direct bolt-on I get the feeling. But I always wanted to see how those cars would look with the later bumpers! Like Hazwan says, it shouldn't be a huge problem.

    Unhappy Dammit.

Some loser backed into my car while I was at work. Not sure when, its barely noticable and I didn't realize until the other day i opened the trunk and it acted weird.
I bent it back as strait as i could but then the trunk wouldn't close. So i had to bend the latch-hook back to where it was supposed to be and it closed but not like it used to. At least they didn't leave any marks or scratches.
[excuse the dirt; my car's ready for bath]

Trunk doesn't line up straight anymore.

    Re: Ccord's updates

Man people are dicks. After my fresh repaint, I would park way at the back of the lot, and some douchebag would always park right next to me when there were like 50 open spots. My car is riddled with door dings now. And its the people who hit you and assume that because it's some old Honda that it's no big deal. Not even the courtesy to leave a note. Man that pisses me off the lack of respect people have for other's property...

I know, right. If everyone was a car guy/gal we wouldn't have this problem.
