    Only starts in cold weather.

My freind has a 2 door lxi (not sure of the year. it's very similer to mine (88) but has the seatbelts on the door and a sun roof, anyhow..) and he is looking to get rid of it and I want to know if this will be an easy fix.

Problem: When it is cold outside it starts right up. If it's around 70+ outside it wont turn over. (And I'm not talking about the engine being warm. You can let it sit for a day and if it's warm outside it wont start.)

    Thanks for the help.

i concur. with the exception of it being a bitch to get at, its an easy fix. Do a quick search on main relay and a thread should pop right up.

Sounds like a relay problem, but when you say won't turn over do you mean nothing happens when you turn the key, or the car cranks, but it will not fire up?

That sounds exactly like what was happening with my 89 LX-i. The problem was the main relay. I agree with Geddy - that's a likely possibility and a good thing to check first.

It's an easy fix if you're familiar with the use of a soldering iron. Often the relay is fine, but the solder joints between the connector and relay itself go bad.

What else is wrong with the car?

yup the guys are correct sound like the main relay. mine also did that but not as bad and i replaced my coil, sparkplugs/wires and cap and rotor and it helped it start up faster.

thats what i thought mine was too, but it turned out to be a coolant temp sensor tw sensor i think? first and easiest look at the air filter! if its clogged bad it might do this (correct me if i'm inaccurate PLEASE) but the main relay is an easy fix. Is the check engine ligh comin on? mine threw a code 6 i think it was. same symptoms morning it would start but if it got hot outside it just cranked over and over till you could smell gas. The main relay is easy to fix and the senor isn't real cheap so bust out that soldering iron!
