EH, boost guage should be close to your line of sight of the rest of your instruments or either the road... I guess that may not be quite as important as staying in your lane,, um I mean if you have boost controller programed and rev limiter all you doo is drive it, gessh its already and automatic just push play...

just messing with ya...you are getting a nice collection of goodies there bro

This is how I did gauge setup in the slo40:

Boost gauge on column, and then water temp/wideband (replaced egt guage seen in pic)/oil psi gauge.

Make sure your water temp gauge is in a spot you can see.

Just a lot of extensions. It's a momo competition--it has a thicker rim than most wheels, but I really like it (esp the free.99 I paid for it :P ).

^ Love the way the gauges are set up. Like I said its just temporary, maybe although I do like where mine is located now, and its was simple to install using the srt4 housing that came with it. Oh and here are pics of it installed and working/lit. Yes I know I have a boost gauge in a car with no boost....yet, but hey it can always read vacuum.! Also I can actually see it quite well whille driving, its out of the way of the steering column and i can see it good, so it may stay who knows. Anyway on with the pics.

Oh yeah At idle im about -20, at full throttle im at 0, and at regular driving im at about -10. This would be a normal reading right, in terms of vacuum for this car?

    Yeah, sounds about right.

Every motor is different. Mine only pulls -15 at idle, which is a bit low, but afr's are fine, so meh. (+10 on boost ).

I ran it to the outlet for cruise on the intake manifold. I dont have cruise anymore, so I plugged it a long time ago. I uncapped it and ran the vacuum line to there.

Btw guys...its a BOOST Gauge lo....only vacuum for now.

I've always want to get a boost guage and run it for vaccuum. I'll have to get one now. I want to put mine in the engine bay next to the intake manifold. I'll have to get one now, since I have like 3 ports not being used. Thanks!

You could just plug the ports. Summit sells some vacuum gauges for engine baqy uses I believe, theyre pretty nice if I remember correctly. Or just find an SRT4 neon at a junkyard and steal its boost gauge lol.

Well guys got around to getting a battery box and redoing my trunk battery setup. Box is just a $7 walmart marine box but it should be perfectly fine. It is bolted down with 4 bolts, and then there are 2 strap holders that are bolted down with 2 bolts a piece under it. I took the strap out till tomorrow cause i didnt like the way the latch worked so I have been sewing industrial velcro onto the strap to get it looking better when its held in place. Anyway here are pics.

Also guys I've been having a problem for sometime now.Ill talk about it in a seperate reply though to save eye space lol

Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread

Alright onto my problem. Well this has been happening for a looong time now and its slowly been driving me nuts. Whenever I turn my light on at night, when I press the brake the lights will dim, but only every once in 4-5 tries. Like say I wait a minute then press the brakes again..it will dim. Also when all light are on, and I put on a turn signal, the gear selector light will dim to the speed of the signals flash. This has been happening since I got the car, thats how I know its not my battery setup, or any of the work I have done. The headlights are Sylvania Silverstars, but I dont see how that would be the problem. I have checked all grounds, and even cleaned the contacts on the tailight circuit boxes, trying to fix this problem. Also tightened the alt belt. Here are what I think it might be, or what im going to tackle next:

Do the Headlight big wire upgrade?
Go to the scrapyard and get a 4g or legend alt?
    Run new alt power wire?
    etc.?

Im kinda stumped as to what it is, so Im looking at it being my alt. This one was a used alt. put in before I got the car, because the other alt. died when my brother had the car. Also if I do get another alt from the jy and rebuild it, which one would be the best one to use in terms of easy of install/mods for it to work? The 4g, legen or other?
