    Got my EK1 head BACK!

Here's an update. Got that shit back from the machine shop. Looks yummy. That head was crusty as fuck, and they had to use the parts from the cracked head I brought in. So in this case, two heads were better than one! (ba dum bump!)

Got a cam regrind (stock profile, it was worn pretty badly), valve grind, all new seals, adjusted, cleaned, milled, tested, good to go. $450.

The cracked casting I took in:

The crack was so small, my camera couldn't even pick it up... But I guess pressure and heat let a lot of liquid through that tiny crack!

The FACTORY 3-angle valve grind. You can see it here in this pic. I'm sure my refurb'd head with the regrind doesn't have that...

    All the leftover parts.

    And now the new deliciousness:

Such a relief. Finally! I took the crank in to get it mic'd and have them order me some bearings. Then the long-block assembly will begin!!! Again...

That looks so nice, just as it should. Did you ever find out if they hot tank an aluminum head or just blast it to clean it up? I'm still curious on that one, but that final head looks titties.

PS-- Don't forget to put a cam seal in if they didn't put one in when they reassembled it.

Damn, I forgot to ask about that. I don't think they hot tanked it, looks like they just degreased it and painted the outside. I'll ask when I pick up my crank. I also gotta ask if they have the specs for the stock camshaft. Just for curiosity's sake.

I'm not sure about that myself. I'll have to do some more research. There's an article in Honda Tuning about it, surprisingly enough, and I know I've seen the mod somewhere else as well.

Oh you wanna race to the EK1 finishe, eh? Should I play dirty and hold onto that oil pan you so desperately need? Mwahahaha!
