    Battery Relocation (Need answer quick)

Well I relocated my battery to the trunk, and was using 8 guage wire, and a amp fuse. The amp fuse blew when cranking the car over. My negative is grounded to the body. I am going to pick up some more battery cable in an hour or so. How many feet should I get? Do I need a fuse? Do you think autozone would have the fuse? Ill call I just need to know how many feet i need and what guage of cable to use. Was thinking 4 or 2.

8 gauge will not cut it. It's barely enough for some amps, let alone your whole car. Bigger is better, depending on how long you run the wire. 4 gauge minimum, I'd say, if you can afford 2 gauge, get it. Get enough to run the entire length of your car. Extra is always good for running it through various channels and tunnels.

Well could I get away with using the 8guage? I found out no one in town has any battery cable left, so I have no way to get it and no way to crank the car. I have class tomorrow. Could I get away with using it till this weekend? I can take the fuse out and run it

Can you make it down to Lowes oh Home Depot? I am using 4g wire from Lowes for my ground for the battery to chasis to starter.

its not smart to try to get away with it, 8 is just to thin, it be scared to burn or melt something, i would def go 2 guage or even a nice 0 gauge bigger the better. i would say if your really needing the car to run, put the batt back in its stock spot for a few more days until you can locate some wire and other parts, its better to be safe then sorry

If you need it so badly, can't you just hook the battery back up in the stock location until you can get it set up right?

Oh I might be able to get down to Lowes....anyone know how many feet I will need. I really dont have money to buy extra should 7-8 feet be enough.

4 guage should be ok. i think its rated to flow like 98amps...il have to check my book.

8 guage is for like 60 amps max and our cars pump out 70 amps from the alternator.

Yeah the 4 guage I got is only like 6 strands of copper its so thick. I was gonna go 2 guage , but 2 gauge would have taken up so much space in my car. The 2 they had, was like 11/2 " in diameter.

youre gonna need at least a 150 amp fuse or so id say. Id say 1/0 copper wire would be ideal for this instance

Re: Battery Relocation (Need answer quick)

someone needs to get a dry cell. pc680 ftw it's about 3 inches by 11 inches by 10 inches. it's tinyyyyyyy and it cranks my crx nice and hard. i had it relocated to the hatch with 4 awg and it would blow fuses all the time. changed to 2 awg same thing so i just put it in the bay since it's so small now it cranks like 1/2 and it starts lol. just get one and slide it since it's so small.
