I thought it was time to be more active in this site, here are some pics of my sexy pod filter im gonna attach when i have the time, annoyingly it looks like ill have to relocate the battery because i cant see where the f##k i can put this otherwise, its too nice looking to hide as well.










So was this pod filter worth the $5 nzd i paid from a moronic pawn shop?
and is a cai common on carbed engines?
Yes i am using regular pvc pipes on parts of this, as theres no forced induction atm, or the forseeable future, i cant imagine pvc being a issue as long as i dont put it too close to the valve cover, aka the frying pan.

i havent seen those in a while, there built to look like airplane jet engines lol but um for a pod filter on a carb your gona need to do a civic air box conversion, um i think theres a how to on it someplace

This warning was listed in a cold air intake "how to" that I used to make my own CAI.

"DO NOT use PVC pipe to make the intake piping. PCV piping is not heat tolerant and will melt and release toxic fumes when exposed to under hood temperatures. Plus the ID of PVC piping is much smaller than 2.5" because it is very thick. The Iceman systems are made of thermoplastic, which is a special plastic formulated to take heat. PVC piping is not, so please do not use it. "

ebay? huh i have no idea where it originated from as i brought it from a second hand dealer, and for five bucks its gotta be cheaper than ebay, the smudge on the filter housing that looks like a scrape is gum from the paper price sticker that refuses to come off easily and i dont fell like taking to it with any potentially destructive solvents, unless someone has a idea, i had a bit of a laugh when i brought it, price $5.00, desc: car part. lmao!

Worst case scenario is the filter is crap right?

In that case since i can disassemble the housing i got myself a real cheap nice looking housing to put a decent filter in!

It would be shame to hide that thing...runing some duct to the front for some ram air would be sweet though.

As far as PVC goes if you put some type of refective foil/tape on it I would think it would be fine, but I'm no expert; just that my brother ran a PVC intake for years with no problems...I don't know about the fumes it could put off, but PVC pipe should be able to take indirect underhood temps just fine...it's not going to sitting right over the exhause manifold.

Um i know the filter isnt going to make that by itself, but if it is a ebay style filter does that mean its dangeriously defective, ie will collapse during running and get sucked into the carb, or does it simply mean that the ebay sellers just make wildly exaggerated claims and its perfectly ok to use?

The filter housing can be taken apart with a serious effort, and the filter itself is reinforced with a wire mesh on both sides if that helps, either way $5, plus the gas money to cash converters seems a good deal just for the fancy filter housing so id not be too annoyed if the filter should be replaced, and the filter does loook and smell brand new, no gas fumes or anything coming from it

its just a cheap no name filter thats all nothing wrong with them i have been using a ebay filter since eary this year with no problems

It should be perfectly ok to use. Ebay sellers are known to make WILDLY exaggerated claims to sell "performance enhancing" parts for cars, to people who usually dont know any better.

It looks really sharp. It would be a shame to hide that thing down behind the front bumper on a cold air intake.
