    Hydrogen fuel cell injection

For those who dont know, pure water consists of 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Oxygen, and all you need is current to seperate the 2 and they seperate into 2 gas forms, hydrogen(H2) and oxygen(O1) since O1 cant live on its own, it instantly bonds with another oxygen atom thus giving O2 and H2 after seperation.

My roommate did this on his FI mustang but it wasnt working properly because the computer detected more "air" coming in so it added more fuel.

The theory being that the hydrogen is combustable and the oxygen is ... uhh cant think of the word, but is needed for proper combustion. Essentially adding power and possibly (slightly) better economy.

Since I have a carb with an intake already on it, all I need is one of the vacuum ports to suck this mixture (H2 + O2) out from the cannister the water is held in, and into the motor. Probably using a vacuum port on my car (or, pre-carb hole)

Does anyone else have any information on hydrogen injection? Its not as combustable as regular unleaded is, but when its used in its place (say, 10% less fuel and replacing that 10% with 5x as much hydrogen [large scale] it would be about the same)

Hopefully it will have some effect anyways.

Also: Does ice conduct electricity? Water does obviously, but ice?

You can buy systems that supposedly do this, but I'm doubtful that they work as well as they say. Also water doesn't conduct electricity very well its all of the impurities in it that conduct the electricity. i guess the same thing would apply to ice

Yeah, the systems cost alot more than this would, this whole thing for me to try and build will cost about 4 dollars and be fully functional. All I need is wiring for + and -, some lengthy bolts, a container for about 2L of water (2l pop bottle maybe?) and a piece of vacuum hose.

Water just needs current going through it for it to start seperating. Its a slow process, and the amount injected will be fairly minimal, but ian said he noticed gains with it on. So whatever, its basically a free mod I wanna experiment with

    Re: Hydrogen fuel cell injection

I have been looking into this for some time...
Theoretically it should work with enough electrolosis...our alternators put out enough power for this.

Lots of people seem to be making these systems work.

Here are a few links that I have found, hope they help.
PM me anytime about this...I have a few questions about what type of water solution you're using.

Well for the water, Ian was using just basic tap water, but his positve (or negative?) electrode would get dirty, because its charging the water and the impurities are coming and attaching themselves to this post. I think first time Im going to try distilled water, Ill buy a bottle for a buck fifty and try it out. More than likely since im cheap ill just use tap water aswell and clean or replace electrodes.

The amount used was typically 1.5L for every 40L or so of gas. And it was a pretty small scale fuel cell just trying it out.

Also the power being sent into the water was 12V (or 14.4 I suppose) instead of the mentioned 2V.

Just talked to ian and hes saying its a waste of time, I guess his results werent good enough. But still, hydrogen isnt a very good source of combustion.

you need something to increase the rate of separation. I think they said salt water goes through the process a lot faster than regular water which might make a bigger difference because you would have more o2 and h2 to inject at any one time.

I'll read up on it, ian used battery acid mixed with the water, apparently that helped

Yeah thats what im thinking, this hydrogen isnt going to be good enough. Apparantly you can make methanol by cutting wood chips up real fine, putting them in a jar and heating it, and allowing the gas to enter the engine. Dont burn the chip, but just heat them and methanol will release. Probably a better idea than hydrogen. But how hot do you need to heat the chips?

yeah wtf man its called biodeisel if you wanna run some alternative fuel...

if this shit were really that simple (to use on a system like you are talking about, with any kind of efficiency) it would be a hell of a lot more common. good luck separating atoms buddy

well the way he said it is simple, but my hindenbourg comment was valid

hydrogen is highly unstable, you run serious risks of detonation.

my Grandpa has an older truck like 70's with no sensors he runs his on 1/2 gas and the rest water and baking soda.... he used a big plastic pipe and some other stuff and ran wires into it n stuff it runs great.. awsome gas mileage too lol. I could prolly get the details if anyone wanted them but from what I hear this doesnt work well on cars with sensors and aperently theres a guy who knows how to make your car run on 100% water and hes being paid to shut up. but when he dies it is supposenely in his will or something that everyone in america will know how to do this.. dont trash me im just saying what i have heard from very reliable people. and I have seen my grandpas truck run very well on this system even though its not running completely on water its close.

that link molissa posted looks very close to what my grandpa did but he didnt buy a cell like that. he didnt buy a cell at all.

BMW has a Hyrdogen car, not a hydrogen fuel cell car, an internal combustion engine that runs on Hydrogen. It's not a big deal, or hard to make happen, or unsafe, it's just that Hydrogen is not easy to get. That is all.

Oh an LMFAO @ the baking soda and water!! That's awesome.

yeah I mean I was really yong when he first did it so i cant remeber details but I could get them. I just remeber he put baking soda and water somewhere and the truck ran just as good as on 100% gas.

Baking soda & water, sounds like grandpa was making something else than gas.

    Re: Hydrogen fuel cell injection

Keep in mind, it takes the same about of energy to separate the water into it's gases as it generates when burned. There is no free energy. If you could use a power source such as sun or wind to do the separating you would have something. Honda has a car now that purns 100% hydrogen and oxygen for it's fuel. You have to fill it with hydrogen though and here in lies the problem. Where do you get hydrogen?

This is a plate setup very similar to the one that I am building. Its amazing how much hydrogen you can get with not too much of a load on your car. Its something fun to experiment with. I was able to get a couple big plates of stainless from work that I will be cutting up into smaller plates. I have tried alluminum plates they work but I saw alot of research saying that the stainless works better, so I am trying that. Total $$$ put into it so far. Absolutely none. Good price!

Any Qs let me know. I will try and answer them or point you in a right direction.
