    Unhappy Took my cam out...

I took my cam out yesterday (I took pics so I'll have a how to made up when I get time) and replaced it with the stock one. I wanted to return everything to stock so it's all adjusted (like the valve clearances) and so I can also run the car after to make sure it's running nicely before I remove it and sell it. It's probably the first time I lost power (never really taken a mod off before) and you can totally tell how much the cam was helping because it feels so much slower and I don't get that nice "kick" at 3000 rpms. I'm sure no one cares but just thought I'd post.....

Is it the Openloop cam, or did you have another custom camshaft?

I'd think it would be between 15" and 20" anything less and the idle would be rough.
I had to raise the mixture to be richer and the idle to about 1,150in nuetral. the vacuum still hung around 8" - 12"

Ya know I'd be interested in knowing something. I have a spot that I do a acceleration test for my car's at. It's not a 1/4 mile or nothing, just a spot that I use to check things out. I knew my wifes 4th gen could do 65mph, now after a tune up it will do 70mph at the same spot(everthing I pulled off was REALLY bad). It would be interesting to see what your cam in the car right now does compaired to the one your getting. I'd be curious, hint hint.:p

Jim: I was thinking of doing the same thing. I can either get anal and do it at the local gridge night ($15 all night racing), or just get a stop watch and do it.
My car hit 310,000 mi the other day. I'm putting 1,000 miles a week on it driving to school and back; I know what fun. It will get the camshaft anyway. It dosen't smoke, cranks, and I've been revving the shit out of it for quite a while; no problems. Even if it does break, that is what the spare engine is for

    I'll let ya know.

Well for my spot I just use a road that end's at another road. So I so my run starts with a left turn. I accelerate onto the other road as fast as I can and their's a brigde that I use as my finish line about 2blocks distance away. I say 2blocks, but my site is in the country.
