    Distributor installation HELP!!

Guys I'm having trouble getting my distributor back on. When I took it off there were 2 divots that I lined up with the camshaft but it still wont go all the way on. Kinda like something's blocking it?!? Whats the deal?

OK I'm gonna try it again tomorrow because I seem to have lost the friggin bolts.... UGH. Can I get them at an auto parts store or will I have to go to the junkyard?

Cam lines up the dizzy one way. The bolts you lost are probably M-8 or M-10 metric pitched. Most auto parts have them in various lengths, might have to buy more than one.

OK the problem seems to be that I can't get past the o-ring so that the distributor can sit flush with the mounting plate. Do I need to use some sort of lube so that it can get past the o-ring? I already coated it with a little motor oil.

Ah, got it figured out. Apparently when I took the distributor out I somehow bent one of the tabs that's supposed to line up with the cam and this got the line-up wrong. A new $10 distributor from the salvage yard solved everything. Now lets hope this 3rd carbutator I also had to install works.
