    Question Idle is terrible

I got a 1989 accord lx with a carb. Now since I bought the car it has had a weird idle. When I first start the car, it has a nice cold idle at about 2k. But after a few seconds, it starts to rise and as I begin to the drive the car, it ends up at about 3k-4k range. Sometimes after driving it for about 15 minutes i can kick the idle down but other times I cant kick it down at all even after a half hour of driving.

And even when the idle manages to get down to about 800 rpm, its really rough to a point where it makes the car shake a little. I would appreciate any help here cause this problem is really starting to upset me.

well first off do you let the car warm up before driveing?? a 3,000 rpm start up on cold is about normal for the carb.... give it a 5-10 minute warm up then tap the gas and it should drop down, now the rough idleing sounds like your idle screw needs adjusted, small turns at a time untill you get it correct
