Well it took longer then expected because I changed my mind about what tires I wanted. These babies have been in the basement for waaay too long! Got Drag DR6 17's wrapped in Falken 452's 205 40 R17, and 15% tint on the back 3. I got it done yesterday but it was rainy and today was nice so I took some pics
Now I've gotta get that new engine in and take care of the rust, oh and a drop would be nice too.
Hotness....
tell me you love thoes tires...cuz im getting almost the same set up this week or next week

That looks pretty damn good. Are you going for a drop?

outstanding! when are you going to get the motor in that beauty?
How did you come up with the color on the valve cover, it was bright gold then the next time it was a candy toffee color, I really like it.
This car/build is absolutely sick. Keep up the good work, I'll be keeping a close eye on this one
Thanks guys.
roodoo, the top coat said to be baked at a higher temp( I didn't go much higher then the original bake) which seemed to burn it... resulting in the colour change. I will be putting in the engine next month(june) probably mid, after pay day.
looking good there (Y)

2004-2011?
Top notch old boy top notch. Keep up the good work.
Remeber boys and girls Coupes rule, Hatchies drule, and 4 doors are for mothers..........
I couldn't agree more. I can't beleive I've missed this thread as long as I have either, but damn, I'm glad I stumbled across it.
VERY clean, and meticulous job on the rebuild/swap. I'm really in awe of the build, and attention to detail you're putting into the project.
...and to quote the post I made literally just before this post.. ...DAMMIT, another white hatch. I can't beleive how much it looks like mine too. I had (still have) 17" Kaizer K2's (gunmetal w/ polished lip) on mine before swapping back down to my 15's. Truly a beauty though. Keep it up.
PS> Any chance you might be able to source a manny ps rack and x-member for me when you go to the jy next? I really need to get my hands on one.

agreed, let's stop him from progressing on his car so we all don't feel bad
opportunitys to focus on accomplishing something are like eclipses around my place, once in a while the stars line up, weather, kids, yard work, ughh
Now I need to figure out how to cook paint so it looks carmelized, that look is cool.
Thanks guys, I picked up some coolant hoses of various sizes to replace all the old ones, got some iridium's aswell. Oh and a friend of mine is going to machine up my crank pulley since there was some damage.
Mark, if your absolutly serious I can get you a rack.
More to come!
Hey messy, I'm not exactually sure but I will show it when I get it back.
Got this in today, I think I will take it to work and clean it up(needs some minor filing and such) and also acid etch and alodine it(keeps corrosion at bay, we use it for aircraft so it should be fine for a strut bar). Then I might get it powder coated or paint, not sure what I want to do yet.
Here's the latest engine shot, I've got the iridium's in there, new cap/rotor and the new wires on. Theres also new coolant lines going on but I only have a few done since I need to figure out the correct path's. It's a shame but I had to blast the valve cover(there was some damage that I couldnt get rid of, and since the paint's a different colour I couldn't touch up) so I painted it again, not sure if I'm happy with it but it will do for now.
This is my current project, I have got to get these door panels back to good condition. There are some large cracks that run down which will only get bigger if I don't fix them now.
Main cracks pictured here:
Super dirty, needs a damn good clean.. theres all sorts of strange organic growth.
This is the soiled carpet, it must have a ton of things in it.. I will be scrubbing the hell out of that and putting it back on. Both doors are like this and I will fix both.
I was headed to the local pick n' pull to pick up a few things and check out that rack for you Mark, but around half way there I hit a light and the car dies.. I was a bit thrown off since I haven't had any problems since that fuel pump crapped out, which was my initial thought. So I thought I would rather be stuck at/near home instead of 30 mins away. So I turned tail and made it home.
Pretty much the car wont idle after warm-up, it will idle when I start it up like normal(takes a bit of playing with the throttle so the choke stays on, this is a normal operation for my car). After that it will just die without giving it gas, even if you are at like 3k rpm on the highway, put in the clutch it will just drop right down and stall out. I'm sure there's a thread around here covering that, I figured I should document it.

i want that strut bar!
i had a similar problem years ago with mine, and it turned out to just be a really dirty fuel filter. I replaced both for a few $ and all was well again. Do that and toss in a bottle (or two) of carb/fuel sys cleaner, and see how you make out. If that doesn't work, could be the carb. (buh). I really appreciate that you kept my req in mind for the pick-'n-pull.
Suggestion: take your painted cover, wrap it up and put it away until the motor is in the car. For now, just put on a dumpy stock one so you don't have to go nuts keeping it unscratched. Either that, or tape the snot out of it with purple painters tape. just make sure to remove/replace the tape every few weeks.

Hey thanks, yea I had the crappy one on there but damn I like the look of the other one so much.. this is what I get I think I will do what you said and replace the fuel filters this weekend, it's cheap and will hopefully work out. Hopefully get to pick n' pull sometime soon.
Haha yep! I think I said that in page 1. Going to drop sometime this summer I think, lets see how good my tax return is first
More to come, gonna get some epoxy/glue and cleaner so I can get those door panels done soon. I'll post pics of those before and after.
Got this in today, I'm STOKED!
100sq feet of B-Quiet Ultimate!! I got monday off too so I think I will be appyling as much as I can, not sure if the weather will be good though.. we'll have to see.
I'll make sure to have before/during/after pics, I don't think it will cover all the car but it will be pretty close I think.
