    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

Got this done today, it was a little tricky by myself.

Goal for the end of the week is to have the gas tank/line, harness', heater crap, engine in. After that it's downhill. Also got my coilover's on the rear done, haven't got around to the front quite yet... it will have to wait till I get this major stuff done. I Didn't have the camera for the week so these are the only pics I have, anyway more to come.

Anyone local want this carbed engine? heh

    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

Well I didn't blast it clean but I sure scrubbed it!

In this pic I have it cleaned, some paint touch up, the efi line run with new filter, new cv boot, and new throttle cable.

Yesterday was a wicked day picked up these, they finally came in so I put them on today! (except the intake, the u-bend is my cai fresh from the powder coater's in semi-flat black)

Here I did a little sway bar comparison since I had them all out.

    The rear:

Pretty damn awesome, I'm stoked to drive this baby.

Today I finished getting in the efi gas tank with all the lines and everything swapped over/connected up, so thats all done. After that I put the cabin harness in and tried to make sence of where things should go.. should be an interesting ordeal as there are different plugs/more connections then my hatch one. Oh well I will sort it out and make it work, more to come!

Man that engine bay looks awesome all cleaned out and touched up!! It's almost a shame to put an engine back in there because it would block the view.

I'd like to get a set of them ST swaybars myself one of these days but I'd have to paint or powdercoat them before installing. Probably black to keep it stock looking. That green color they use is just butt ugly I think.

    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

did that rear bar come with the endlinks you have? ..or did you have to pick those up separately?

I'm going to wager a guess to say that you'll end up going back to the SE-i front bar. ...with a FWD (in an ultra-performance setup) the tendency it to tighten the snot out of the rear end (kudos on that rear bar) and keep the front fairly loose.

Then again, it's just a matter of opinion too.

My hat goes off to you for such an incredibly clean job you're doing on this. I know I've said it before, but it's worth repeating. This work is truly top-notch, and the attention to detail dwarfs anything else I have seen on anyone elses car on this site (maybe except only Dennis' hatch).

Once this thing is done, I may have to make a trip to Canada just to see the damn thing.

As for your skunk's, which application are those originally built for? Any idea on what the damper valving, and spring rates are on those? Anymore pics of them?

    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

Thanks mark, I knew you would have something to say!

The sway bars came with everything needed, as you can sorta see in the picture with the baggies. I did NOT buy anything seperate, it all came in the one big box. I will see how the front feels, I'm just stoked to drive at this point so any testing will have to happen later, haha.

As for the skunks(90-93 teg) they are stiff! I only have the rears on right now, I had to put pieces together from both the accord and skunk to make it work. The fronts, so far I have had to cut off about 1/8 of the pinch fork(top) so that the bolt would line up properly. But it's too long and I need to do the top hat mod to get em to work(no vehicle is hard to run around and get things, I will pick up the bolts and stuff soon then get it all working). As for the rates the paper says springs are front "8kg/mm spring rate" and the rear is 6kg/mm spring rate" as for the damper I haven't found any numbers, all I have seen is "non-adjustable precision valving" so my best guess is that they are matched up to work well with the springs. Haven't been able to drive on them yet as I pretty much was off the road when I put them on.

Anyway, once I get them all installed and what-not I should pull them out and show you guys what I did to make them work. As for today I got a bunch of the engine stuff swapped over, worked on the harness some more, and layed b-quiet on the trunk floor(so all thats left is the rest of the floor and driver's door).

Thanks for the props, I think we will have to have a half way meet when you get those carbs on

    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

    Todays update:

Got the passenger door harness in then proceded to the drivers door it took me longer then I had thought thats forsure. Had to take off the stuff from the parts door, install on my door and also covered it with bquiet.

Also had to get a crankpully key from honda, $3 saved me a lot of headache, so I got that on and the alt. Next is to get the tranny on there and mounted.

    Re: 87roach's 3g wip

Well I lost half of last week due to vacation(oh well), so I should have more done but what can ya do.

Anyway I ran out of bquiet but had enough to do where the floor heater goes(I did NOT want to take it out to have to put it on).

The whole vent system has been cleaned out, and parts of my hatch system have been put in place(since im not using ac I used the funnel part the hatch had to get better flow).

Here are some shots of the front skunk's, it took be forever to do the top hats, since I broke my vice and I did not have the proper size drill bits... oh and I don't have enough nuts so I can't attach the top yet, have to get that.

Also had to cut the other pinch fork down to the same size since I COULDN'T get the thing off(rusted to the bushing once again), that was a slut. Both sides are on now so I just have to get the nuts for the top and it will be finished.

I ordered this generic short shifter for a 88 civic just to see how they would compare.

Well its close but it's just not the same.

I tried make it work but the ball is too big and wont fit into the housing where it's suppost to sit. I also got poly shift bushings installed. Tranny off the old engine and now I have to get it on the new one and plop it in.

Looking good! I noticed you don't have the rear splash guards on the rotors. I'd get some as I've heard that if water gets(puddle) on them you will lose braking power.
