    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

ok the motor is now using like 1 liter of oil for every 8-10 liters of fuel, getting quite bad. Its WOF expires on the 14th so i guess ill drive it till it runs out of oil/wof expires then convert my gfs car to manual and drive that.

Im also hoping its just the rings in the motor making it smoke so bad, if it is and the head is allright ill be thinking of putting the head onto the b18 block i have and using the b20 EFI on the B18A motor in my accord and see how that goes until the new motors rebuilt.

hey mate nice vigor....shame bout the leak but thats pretty normal for an old car..just a quick q..are the front and rear sway bars bigger than the normal accords? anychance of gettin pics? just wondering as there is one at the jy and i probly wont have time to go look for a while..i think someones beat me to the front bar but if the rear is bigger i shall grab it...if you look at my thread in the suspension section i gave a flick of the 4g wagon rear to compare to...

    B18 Engine laughs

as asome of you know i have a honda B18A block lying around, Basically a destroked B20A, Sicne i have no spare B20A engines lying around to put in my car and the motor in my cars fucked i pulled the old smokey blacktop b20a out, can you say fucked rings??...

Also, this engine has been fucked with.... why has it got PK2 pistons??? i also notice they dish downwards so they must be a lower compression.. Can anyone else confirm this.. i know its a blacktop but its an accord blacktop so it still should be ph3 not pk2. maybe thats why this motors totally fucked, i bet it was rebuilt with non oem honda bearings, thats probably why it rattles down there.

    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

Anyways i put the head off that fucked blacktop motor onto the b18. I belive its not the valve stem /seals making the engine smoke as the head looks like its in good condition.

It runs on all 4 cylinders roughly, but i dont want to thrash it until ive sorted its oil and cooling system out, I might run it on a 1600 ECU and see what happens

Mounts damn hory looking but those were the only botls i got long enough.

Also i noticed all b20 pistons ph3 or pk2 have that down dish, but i noted the b18 has no dish so the b18 must be a higher compression engine, sounds good to me, theres an upgrade for any b20a, Use b18A pistons

    ^^^good to know!
I notice that once you get on something you stay on it till you reach a fucked point and no sooner LOL.. an admirable trait.
That smokey B20, wtf running vegatable oil in it? combustion area looks like a well used iron skillet.

    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

My Blacktop had PK2 pistons in it. I can even take a picture if you want. They looked the same as the ones in your pictures.

Maybe we found out why the blacktops supposedly made less power => Lower compression ratio!

We can see that the B18A pistons are totally flat too.

I'm glad I installed Type-R Pistons in my blacktop, they have a nice bump on them

Thats definately great to know. Did you notice more power while driving it? I wonder if this means that B20A or B18A pistons will make a nice upgrade for the B20A5 ludes?

    Nice, B18A engines are cool

The last time I looked, the B20A goldtop pistons were dished as well.
The blacktops have only slightly lower compression as they are 9,4:1. Goldtops are 9,5:1.

    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

Yes the gold top b20a pistons are dished aswell i noticed later when i went in the shed and looked in my piston pile.
So when ordering new pistons from japan look out for some PH5 if you cant locate some b series ones. I wonder how much the b18a's compression is higher than the b20a's

Anyways project isnt over yet, the motor still doesnt run its greatest due to the 2.0 ecu, my mate had a old a18a efi ecu that im going to try borrow, ill install that with some civic zc injection components and vac advance and see what happens when i finish installing the axles in the car and find some oil. looking forward to taking it out on the road and seeing what its going to do
