that starting problem kinda sounds like spark wires, but I dunno why the ecm would pick up on it. If the oil is leaking around the valve cover where the spark plugs are, that could cause some misfires, and shorting spark wires.
May want to look into an injector leaking down too.
the problem has gone away for some reason now. i think its cause the weather has been fine. Usually dopes it on damp days but since its not been raining for a couple of days ive never had any hard starting issues.

leads are new, theres no oil/water down the sparkplug holes. Oh well the weathers packed in again yesterday maybe ill try starting it today and see if the problem is back.

i have another engine to go in real soon. just waiting for payday so i can do it up/shine it/fix it/service it then it can go in.

that is odd you said that it does it in rainy weather, that is when secondary ignition problems show up worse. New wires don't always mean they won't leak, or crossfire. Just saying. That could also be in the cap & rotor or coil secondary. Still does not explain ecm reading it, those are seeing fuel, air and emmisions crap.
good luck with the motor swap

    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

Had an epic fail this morning. For Some reason there was pressure buildup in my power steering bottle. I haven't yet installed my cam belt cover and heres what happened. The cap of the power steer fluid both popped off and got entangled with the cam belt/gears

Belts got lots of cuts and brakages....thisis one of them the not worcest

was driving along and i hear this funny screeching noise and the engine lost power and stalled instantly. i rolled to a stop and tryed starting it...hmmmm no compression on a few cylinders and loud backfiring when i cranked it. Laughed at the thort of what the hell the problem could be. opened the bonnet to see nothing wrong but the lid to my power steer missing. then i looked at the cam belt and saw chunks missing and broken bits and freying. i was like fuck now i need a new head. Anyways i had a tool kit in the back so i cranked the engine to TDC with a ratchet, did the same with the cam gears, put the belt back on tightened the tensioner started it up and away it went, running perfect but the belt making flapping noises and it self desitergrates. I slowly drove home. no harm to the engine was done, but im not driving it until i get a new cambelt!!!!

    Re: AccordB20A's Vigor Update Thread

you used to be able to buy an alloy cleaning product here that would clean all that oxidisation off .
i think it had caustic soda in it so was pretty nasty to everything else it touched but hell it worked well.
have heard that paint stripper works well tho.
just watch the oil seals in the trans tho
