    87 - 89 conversion

Well I finnally got my car to start. She has been off the road for like 5 months. Today I bypassed a wire that I thought might have been fried or crimped and she starts.
So close I can feel it . lol
I been driven a POS for so long its gonna be good to have my car back, especially after all the shit i've replaced, ive spent at least
$1500 on it while its been siting.
so the conversion overall to 89 efi from 87 carbed wasn't that bad, had a few problems which were expected with that much work. So ..ya thats about it. Thanx to all that helped especially carrotman and his how- to

Well, you did most of the work by yourself.

I'm glad your car works fine now!

See, it wasn't that hard to do..... just hell or a lot time!!

Which wire did you disable exactly?

It was constant power to main relay as well as the ign power to the relay. So I just made my own ( Fused of course ).
I checked absolutley everything so figured what the hell, i'll try this, and it worked. So maybe the car the harness came out of had fried those 2 wires ?

Can't wait to drive her - should notice qiute a power difference
seeing how it an extra 20hp for the engine plus intake and new exhaust, ( witch my car was in desperate need of )

    $1500 was including
    - upper/lower balljoints
    - monroe sensatrac
    - outer tie rods
    - engine and all parts
    - ractive intake

gotta make an appointment for exhaust early next week

    any suggestions ? - 2" or 2 1/4"

I already have purchased a flow thru muffler and hollowed cat and flex. I was thinkin 2" cause of noise
maybe with a bottle muffler ? thanx

Oh, one more thing greenmachine, did you use the EFI bracket for the distributor. It's really important that you use it. If not, your timing will not be adjusted properly and you won't notice any power increase.

Wow, another one did the conversion, good for you. I'll stick with the carburetor for now, untill I can get ahold of a JDM B20A...

As for your MSD coil question, start at the stock gap of .044" and go from there. You can try .049", .054" or .059''. It's up to you and if you feel any differences in the performance depending on the gap.

    Hope that helps.

Is using a adjustable fuel press regulator, a noticable difference.

Well I'll bring it alive again
The diff between swapping to th 89 from 87 was barely anything.
The only problem that i am running into that you would not run into with the 87-87 conversion is a heater wire plug. Not 100% sure what it does yet !
    Other than that, no diff
I would recommend to anyone takin on the Job of converting to EFI, that ya my as well go with 89 for the extra 10hp .....Just my 2 cents .
So ya... well ...works over time to go home , yaaah !
