Strap a block of C4 to it and blow a giant hole in it!
Nah, I'd notch it, and if you're removing one of those pinch weld flange thingys that run along all the edges, just hammer it back so it goes around where you notched it and remains continuous, as that flange does add strength. I'm sure millions of people have just smashed it flat in the exact same situation. I'm sure you could trim it to make it work.
Oh, and there is adjustability in the motor mounts for engine position, but i'm sure you thought of that already.
