    TDC and crankshaft key position

does anyone know if the crankshaft key(the one that holds the pulley in place) is in a fixed position in relation to the engine at TDC? im in the process of fabricating a bracket for the sensor, and i have no idea what the relationship between the TDC and crank key would be assuming its supposed to be in the same position all the time.

the only thing i remember is that when i had the trigger wheel welded on, the missing tooth lined up with the notch for the key. the only problem is im not sure if that notch and key is TDC for the crankshaft.

I think it is because when i was working on my oil pump i had the engine in TDC and the key was up.
