    final drive swap questions for b2k5

    so I was playing on a gear calculator site tommy posted up and was debating if its worth the effort to try to swap the b20a final drive with a civic cx/vx type final drive. I remember looking for the LSD and reading a post saying the diff itself fits almost all non vtec transmissions. Thsi means the final drive gear will bolt on the diff. Ill need to know if the pinion gear will swap from either tranny and if the cx/vx gear is intrchangable on the b2k5 shaft.

    Does anyone have access to a honda manual or infomation telling me overall internal races of the gears or stack shaft in this case before I buy a transmission I cant use. thanks

    You need a countershaft that fits the differential ring gear you want to use. You cannot change the gear on the countershaft.
    Did you check out the tranny section in shopmanual 62se320.pdf ? Also there's gear ratios on page 3-16 and various tranny specs on page 3-6.

    yes I saw that. I wasnt sure if the f2k5 would work because noone has said they have one but tommy. I tried the a20a3 stacks in the b2k5 case and found that the bearings on the top of the stacks on the a20a3 wont fit the b2k5 housing and the shafts are different sizes so you cant swap bearings over from one to the other.

    No I wouldnt have thought the A20 ones would work either. And the gears themselves wont swap between the shafts either.

    so it go's like this

    B2K5 ratios are:
    1st 3.166 40.68MPH
    2nd 1.857 69.35MPH
    3rd 1.259 102.3MPH
    4th 0.967 133.19MPH
    5th 0.794 !62.2MPH
    Reverse 3.000
    Final reduction 4.066

    And

    F2K5 ratios are:
    1st 3.166 40.68MPH
    2nd 1.772 72.68MPH
    3rd 1.185 108.68MPH
    4th 0.967 133.19MPH
    5th 0.794 162.2MPH
    Reverse 3.000
    Final reduction 4.066
    Tire size used for both 205/40/17

    So this is the difference between the B2K5 and the F2K5.
