car won't start

well i tried to srart the black 88 today,it's been sitting all winter.hopefully it starts to warm up soon so i can work on it.i charged the battery but no start,all it did was click.i tried to jump it on the solenoid and all i heard was a click,sounded like it came from inside car.is it the main relay or the starter.i can hear the fuel pump when i turn on the key.it worked before the winter so i don't know whats wrong with it now.any ideas guys.

come on guys doesn't anyone have any ideas.it ran fine before the winter and now it won't roll.

Check the battery clamps, make sure they are making good connection and are secure.

battery terminals seem ok but to cold out to check connections.

check the main relay take it out and see if the connectoins are lose u should have crunk it at lest once a week during the winter since u negleted it now its returning the favor pray to 3geezus for forgivness lol

took out main relay and soldered it didn't make any difference.i think something maybe froze up. i'll wait til it warms up and try again.picked up four 195/50/15 tires today for it for120.00,but i think one has the belt broke,the tread looks wavy on the outside tread.might have to get another one.

Have you tried seeing if if would turn by the crankshaft? i wouldn't go gung ho on it but if it moves like normal i'd swap starters if the grounds check out. hook up an extra ground see if that does it? good luck man

it's grounded to the motor and the frame already.

Sounds like a dead battery or starter....my 3gee did the same thing when i went to try and start it to find that the battery was dead after sitting for 4 months (big surprise there lol) just clickclickclickclick noise really fast, i charged my battery for 20 mins, 3 cranks and she fired up without a hiccup. To me it sounds like a starter problem because my starter was acting the same way when it was getting insufficient electricity... worked fine after i charged my battery up tho. I wonder if something seized in your starter from sitting somehow... dunno I started my 3gee about once every 3 or 4 months during the snow season and let it warm up in the garage. Did you run your 3gee at all during the winter as I did?

no it was covered with a tarp so it would have ment taking that off every time to start it.

ok so it's warmer out today so i deside to change my starter .get that done and try to start her,no go and now my tach goes up when i tryto start it.why does it do this,anybody know?

ok took bat out of my car and put it in and the car srarts guess it was just the bat .but the starter is change,the solenoid had a loose bolt anyway so i guess it's a good thing i changed it.
