What is this? [PICS]

Ok this may be a completely stupid/nooby question, but while I was working on the car this weekend I noticed what looked like some kind of mount. Like a motor, or tranny mount. I have no idea what it could be for, and have no idea if it is stock. So my question is, what is this mystery mount? It's to the left of the front engine motor mount, right behind the 2 radiator fans.

I have it too, everyone does. I read somewhere that if removed some type of vibration occurs

i read that it's a sound dampening device of some kind. I weight reducted mine

Vibration damper. I forget at what speed it does this, but you can make that thing go crrazy if you hit the right engine speed.

Wow! Far out. It's like those rubber donuts on the drive axles. Don't know why they 're there and don't miss them when they're gone.

it's a tuned vibration damper, it removes certain harmonics from the engine from reaching the front crossmember. it's supposed to work with the hydraulic engine mount

That is called A Dynamic Damper, it's on 5 Speed Axles Only

Dynamic Dampers (Rubber Mounted Big Heavy Weight) act to cancel the vibrations of a certain object.
