    New Tranny

    Hey Guys,

I'll apologise now if this question has been already asked...but I'm in a hurry. I have to act in the next few hours. Can/will either a 1988/89 Prelude tranny straight swap into a 1988 honda accord ex-i. And how difficult is it to swap the motor...and is it worth it? I have an opportunity to purchase the car cheap and my auto tranny on my Accord has had it. So I'm wondering if I should keep looking for either a 88/89 Accord or buy this Prelude?

    Thanks again

if the prelude is not an a20 it will not swap plane and simple there is not one car out there that honda makes that you can just swap either motor or tranny over with no probs end of discussion

88-89 prelude trannys will NOT bolt into any 3rd gen accord, b20 or not.

So basically I'm looking for either a 84-87 Lude or a 88-89 Accord. What about 1st or 2nd gen Acura? Will they swap over? I know they have better gear ratio than either lude or accord...but will they straight swap across?

    Re: New Tranny

    86-89 accord will fit
Not that i know for fact but i thought the 1st gen tegs ,you know the ones that look like a 3rd gen hatch with four doors, were the same car? engine trans and all just more options.
On the b20 i was just stating i didn't think any of the 3rd gen ludes had a20's in em, so no go on the tranny
    edit
    nope different engine
    1.6 L DOHC 16-valve engine
