    Pesky Squirrels?

Yesterday I went to clean and re-oil my K+N filter, which I probably installed at least 2 years ago (f.i.motor). When I removed the cover, a whole bunch (like 20) pieces of cracked acorns tumbled out. They were really piled up in there.

The intake plumbing is stock. Did some critters stick the acorns in the entry end and the shells got sucked through the tubing, or do you think the shells got kicked up from the road somehow and just got pulled as far as they could go?

At least I didn't find something small and dead waiting for me.

I cant see how they got in there unless the resonator box is missing or has a big hole in it.
The box (circled) has a opening at the bottom thats only 1/8th diameter on it.

I pulled the air filter lid off of my GMC pickup (350 V8) and found it packed full of dog food and carpet backing. I'm not sure where the squirrel went, but he never got his winter stash back, that's for sure.

It's mice. When it gets cold they look for places to build nests and stash food. I found a nest in a cabinet drawer in the garage about a week ago. They were promptly evicted.

With all the cats jumping around in the other thread, guess the mice needed somewhere to hide

I have seen that quite a bit. I think it is mice or those chipmunk looking things, they look like a small squirrel without the tail and a racing stripe.

I think that happened to mine too before I bought it. The smell is embedded into the heater core so whenever I turn on the heat I get mouse smell. Fortunately it's mostly a summer car.
