I wonder how my current rims would look like on a Hatch (see signature). I have a spare set that I'll try on the hatch and see how it looks.
Gotta repair the body 1st tough.

What kind of rims are those carotman?
5.25 Memphis Mclass fronts
6x9 Memphis PR Rears
Street Edge amp
15' Memphis PR sub with ported box.
Next, head work, new exhaust(2 1/4 inch) and cam.
id say 17-18s with a fatty dish even on a FWD offset. Drop the car respectfully. 1 inch isnt noticable and not worht the funds. I had to tell the wifey I lowered her car, she didnt even tell. 2-2.5 is a good drop but most kits I think require Jims pinchfork mod. Im washing and waxing the hatch tomorrow but its not lowered yet but Ill try to snap some pics if I get a chance either way.
The littler the wheel the more tire causeing a smoother ride. Ive been track tuned for years and love the feel of the road. If it were me Id hang a bottle of glue over my tires and see what they could take in every situation.
the only thing i dont like about black wheels is the parts that i like seeing (the spokes) are hard to see, even steel wheels with a polished lip would fool me lol
It is such an open question isn't it. You should get what you like basically. If not see as much as picture of 3rd gen with alloy wheel and decide what is your favourite ones.
I know it is totally up to you but this is what I consider if I get wheel - if the reason is for pure cosmetic, just get 17 or what ever it fits.
However, if you do get big big wheel and the wheel can show the brakes through spokes, make sure you have big brake disk upgrade or it will look a bit sad - the reason to get bigger wheel is to accomodate big brake disks, full stop(apart from looks). As someone mention above, big wheels are heavier compare to smaller wheel with same design and that will make the car slow literally. Only the benefit apart from cosmetic is the big brake disk=greater stopping power, that what Porsche has started wearing big wheels with low profile P7 tyres in 70's.
If the performance is the reason for the alloy wheel, I would say same size as original say 13 or 14. But 15 would be good compromise between cosmetic and performance. Below is my previous 15 inch wheel and I chose it for cosmetic and practicality with tyre choice (there is little choice with 14inch). These are Renault Clio OEM=heavy slow but ultra cheap. Ronal does similar ones. I know these are a bit old school but that is the exact point I chose them.

Below is my friends 16inch Hartge type ultra light wheel. (he is lucky having 2 pod caliper) carotman has similar ones.
On this page, the top pictures are wearing cool wheels but it works if you lower the car

On 3geez, I personally like thegreatdane's deepdish wheels on his sedan and picopop's back and silver wheel. I am not big fan of shining and grittering wheels as that will overshadow our car unless you have done some modification on the upper body - just my personal opinion![]()
this is what i'm searching for, 92-96 corolla wheels, or 97 geo prism wheels, painted argent silver, beauty rings, H caps, and BF goodrich radial TA tires with the raised white letters. Old school, if you weren't running alloys in the 80's you had nicely painted wheels with beauty rings, or you had plain boring looking hubcaps.yes i brought it back from the dead, this topic is never really dead

oh i was going to paint them, thats what they look like stock, the argent silver is that old silver that looks like older honda wheels and then you add the chrome beauty rings. for some reason the raised white letters look good on a hatchback, I used to have a set. if you paint a set of wheels right they look completely different.
thats argent silver![]()
in a hatch i agree....but on a sedan no....but thats what makes lost different

oh if i ever find another two of those aluminum rims from the prism they will go on the 98, impossible to find.
big wheels make your brakes look small. and lost are you choosing to install steel rims on your car? you should weigh your car when its done im interested to see if its the heavyest hatch on the site with all the customisation you have done![]()
these are just 14's, i've seen a lot of small steel rims that weighed as much or less then aluminum rims. as far as weight, remember i got rid of a ton of weight from the factory carb and controls, got rid of the AC, I'm changing the battery to an odyssey which only weighs 20 pounds, and most everything i've made is made out of lightweight aircraft alloy. I also got rid of all the sound deadning materials. If I remember right, when I weighed all the ac stuff, it weighed almost as much as another person.
How are you gonna launch without any weight?? That's why I'm keeping a full sized battery in the front.

I had a hard time launching with 110hp. heh.
