    Headlights fill with Smoke!!

I just recieved my Matrix H4 headlight conversion tonight and I installed it. I turned it on and its nice and bright, i also tested the highbeams and they work 2. Now heres the problem... after like 10-15 sec I could see smoke filling the lenses and then I saw it coming out!! It smelled like burning. I dont think its the bulbs because I am postive I did not touch the second one. Is this normal for the first use? If not, how can I fix it? The only thing that I can see that I could perhaps fix it is sticking in the small blue day time bulbs to plug the holes in the back. I may try that after the smoke emptys out.... Thx

Try and get the smoke out and inspect everything, the bulbs might be soo bright they are burning up everything inside...what type of smell is it giving off? I'm sure you can tell the different smoke smells.

One thing that you have to watch out for when installing the H4 bulbs is not to touch the glass with your fingers. For some reason, the oils from your skin will cause them to self-destruct. Hold them with a soft rag or terry cloth.

i dont think the wattage would make ur bulb explode. it would explode only if the wattage of the bulb is lower than the one rated in stock. Its funny how u said, one of them just exploded. . sorry, not trying to be mean. yeah, i guess they are because they operate at high temp and wattage, u cant touch em. like the HID bulbs, shit man. that sucks.

for the smoke problem, check if your wire harness hasn't melted. You might have bought bulbs more pwrful than your harness can support. As for the exploding bulb, you prolly touched it. Just be more careful when you replace them.
