    a20a3

ok.. wikipedia says theres two versions of the a20a3. one being the 114hp version and the other being 122hp.. how do you know which one you have? wiki says that the 88-89 accords have the 12-valve 122hp engine and the 86-87 have 114hp but doesnt say the valves

i have an 87 and it says 12 valve on the intake manifold.. do i have the 122hp engine or the 114hp one?!?!

it'll be more than just that if you do the intake mani to. it has a couple extra pieces/sensors on it. Iacv dual, stage intake. hell maybee it's just those two things. but to control them you'll need the ecu/black box as well. but with just the exhaust mani you'd just have to plug up an extra o2 hole

I thought one of the bigger differences was the cam...

That's why i specifically asked for an 88-89 EFI engine.

i could swap the engine for one from an 88-89 year accord but then ill have to change the black box and/or ecu... right?

An engine swap for 8 hp? Surely there are easier ways.

you'll have to rewire the main harness on the drivers side of the engine to take the new plug and run wires for the iacv. i just got done doing this, unless you need a new engine it's not really going to be worth it. go for a better cam or an air filter if you havent yet.new plugs a ground kit a header can make that much difference, 8hp
ya the cam is different too i forgot that not much but it is.little more aggressive.

well camming i dont really like because of the rougher unpredictable outcome.. but the headwork and exhaust manifold i want to do

but back to my original statement.. will i be looking at 33+/- hp gain with headwork and exhaust mani swap??

    Re: a20a3

possibly if you do enough head work. port/polish, valves maybee even bigger valves, shave the head. with all that i'm sure you'd gain at least 30hp, only a dyno could tell for sure what the real outcome would be tho. if you've got an 88/89 parts car i'd say go for the intake too. the dual stage runners make a difference in the upper rpm's

would i be able to dyno an automatic? ugh i hate auto but i have to wait for the trans swap..

as far as the intake swap.. what would i have to hook up for the runners to function at max capacity? sounds stupid but i want it to work good if i get it

the dual intake runners on the b20a black top make quite a diff in the top end pul eh
think the secondaries open at 5k rpm and gives a wee vtec feeling i reacon
i got a k&n pod filter and it gives that vtec intake sound once the secondaries open
sounds cool at the very least and does give a nice smooth bottom end and mid range due to the long primaries and that xtra bit of top end once they open
