my battery keeps dying, i have a 900 watt amp and i turned down the power to it, it kind of helps but the battery still just turns up dead sometimes. I made sure that i have nothing on except the alarm when the car is off, i have to keep a booster pack in my trunk. please let me know. One of my peeps told me that i should get a capacitator, how much is one and where can i get it from? oh yeah, what is it for?

well capacitor won't do anygood in this situation. it will help whe your car is running.
my bet would be that your alarm is draining the battery. How long did you had the alarm? did it started to happen when you installed the alarm?
the other bet would be that your alternator doesn't charge the battery. so may want to invest into new alternator.

ya its probably the alternator... the amp 'should' run ok off of the alternator while the car is running... you may want to get a power cap just because you do have a 900w amp... I'm running almost 900w with my 2 amps and my 240w h/u ... and I can notice the lights in the car get dim when the bass is hitting.... one thing you could try is start the car and disconnect the batt... if the car struggles or dies.. then you know its the alternator....

check the voltage of the battery when car is running , should be 14.5 volt and if you rev it to 3000 rpm should be around 15 V if so your alternator works fine !

how old is the battery anyway !?

Yeah, I'm with Mike on this...well, almost all of what he said. The obvious question is how's the condinton of your battery? If you have a 4 year old battery or something, that only has 3 properly working cells, and corrosion from hell <this is all an example> then you might want to think about replacing it.

i would still get a cap after you figure out the problem...
itll save your battery and the alternator from failing early like it probably already has...
THey are quite expensive though..

my battery is from walmart and i went to autozone to have my battery tested and they told me that it works fine. I have only had the battery for about 6 months. And yeah, when I start the car and take the battery terminals off of the battery, the car still runs ok. I just installed the alarm about 2 weeks ago, this problem has been going on from before then though and once my car even died when i was driving it.

dirty terminals will not let the juice go to were its supposed to..
And if you said that your car died while driving that is probably because it was out of juice...sei's are fuel injected right?? without any voltage your car wont run becasue the fuel injection needs the juice to work..

Get your alternator checked out too.. that would be best.
