I have some cheapie no name coil overs on mine and they work surpriseingly well. Some sort of civic job that I modified to fit (for everyone that keeps forgetting, my car is a 2g accord so don't ask me how to put civic coilovers on a 3g).

well as far as the springs themselves go there are a limited amount of companies making springs since it requires a "million dollar machine", I would think the coilovers would depend mainly on spring rates and quality of components (excluding the springs themselves)

Oh yes it can. The smaller companies have little interest in paying for expensive R&D. Plus so many guys blame the springs or the coilover's for a bouncy ride, that is on other forums and then only if they realize that they have bounce. ANY and I mean ANY kind of bounce is not acceptible. It's not the fault of the spring or coilover. Only blame them if you have sag or is your coilover's are making noise. It's the fault of the struts. If your struts don't have the dampning power to match the springs, you will have bounce. It's a sighn that the struts can't control the springs. If effects their ride quality and the handling ability of the car. It will be slower to react and when the pavenment get's really ruff it can let the tire/wheel move so much that you can have control issues (chatter). One thing that I see over and over on every forum I visit, and believe me I go out of my way to read threads on suspension stuff is that you get what you pay for. That's not to say I think you should grab a set of $1200 Bilstein full bodied coilover's. I'm pretty sure you can grab coilover for as little as $129 add $424 for Koni's and you have $553. Have Koni shorten the front strut bodies for $130 and you paid $683. That would be $83, very well spent.
