    Need this cleared up(M/C sizes)

    My M/C on my '87 LX-i is a 7/8", and I bought a used M/C from an '89 LX-i and it also says 7/8" on it.

Isn't the '89 supposed to be bigger? Am I missing something? Someone clear this up for me. I'm confused and/or ripped off lol. Thanks

Was that a reman? I'm betting it's either a reman or replacement part that was superceded. LXi should be 15/16". 1993 Accord with rear disc brakes is 1" and should bold directly in place. The only time you should increase the MC size is when upgrading to rear discs, and when going with a larger front caliper (like the dual piston calipers).

Well that sucks. I am going 88-89 front brakes and needed the m/c to power them. It was OEM off of another car.

    *edit

Another car that I was told was an 88 LX-i. Damn. At least I didn't pay much for it.

Still could have been replaced at some point.

Your current MC will work alright. You'll have more pedal travel, but you still shouldn't be hitting the floor in a panic stop.

I hope so. If its really that bad then I can just get another master cylinder later, as long as it works fine then I'll live with it.

All I can say is install the front brakes, bleed the system and replace all of the fluid. You already have the system open and brake fluid is cheap. Then take the car out and make some panic stops. if your foot hits the floor, upgrade the MC.

Also remember that you're going to feel less resistance. You probably won't like that, so you'll probably end up changing anyway.

    Naturally.

If my foot hits the floor I'll be pissed.. haha.

The brakes on my car suck as is it. Mushy pedal after countless bleeding and it doesnt stop very quickly. Hopefully the upgrade will help me out.

Sounds like a bad brake line. Replace those, too. Braided stainless lines are about the same price as rubber, so go ahead and get those on order while you're waiting. The braided lines themselves won't make a huge difference, outside of them being new. Most people feel a firm pedal and think "better brakes." That's not always true. In this case, I'm only recommending them because of their price when compared with standard OEM rubber replacements.

when i switched over to new lines i could lock up my front tires faster....maybe the new fluid helped sometimes.
