Don't quote me on this, but I remember my sister taking her 3g to the stealer for a cruise control problem years ago. They told her the VSS was bad and charged her ~$400 to fix it. They said that if you leave the cruise control system on, it will burn up the VSS. I always assumed they were being their typical cheating scoundrel selves, but if there is a pulser in the dash that goes bad, I might be willing to forgive them this one.

Anyone else know anything about this?

There is a pulser in the dash. That is how the CC works. It sends a pulse depending on speed, this way you can resume the CC because it remembers what pulse it was.

    At least I think.

VSS and cruise control pulser are both seperate. Ones a reed switch and the other is something you would find inside a ball mouse

Possibly. I never really looked into how the CC works, guess its time to look at the digram and see if the pulser turns off or not.

Edit: I just looked at the wiring digram, and it stays on all the time.
