Oil leak on 87 LXI Oil seal BLUES

I have an oil leak out my crankshaft oil seal. So I replaced it and it still leaks. The engine is an A18A and yes it was replaced about 5 yrs ago from the original A20A. So is there any snake oils out there that would stop this leak as I am not going to do any more oil seal replacement. And I am POSITIVE that it is leaking out the crankshaft seal.

There isn't anything you can do other than keep replacing them. What may have happened is the spring that is inside the seal could have popped off while you were installing the seal causing a leak.

what i have seen is people doin crank seals and not putting a good smear of hi temp grease
eg. cv grease on the running edges of the seal.
it dont take long for them to chew out if you dont
or its not put in square, or wear marks on the crank itself

Make sure the new seal comes from Honda. No aftermarket.

I'm assuming this is the rear seal we're talking about, making it a huge pain to fix and not the front seal, which is a normal maintenance item with every timing belt service. You can try one of the oil leak preparations from Kragen or Autozone. I don't have any personal experience with those, so you might do well to read up on them before use.

I was joking about the gear oil Forrest, but will follow your advice on the high mileage 20W50. Ya live up in the Mother Lode country? Pretty scenery. I used to live up there in Murphys.

I used engine assembly lube on my new seal, no issues.

Turns out it was an oil pump o-ring. Put some dye in the crankcase and ran the car a few minutes. Could easily tell that the oil pump was leaking and the leak was coming out the timing cover right below the front crankshaft oil seal. Anyway, put a new oil pump in and no leaks!!
