Damnit, I like retractable antannas too. How much is a new (from salvage) one?

My radio sucks with the thing retracted.

what does it do ? does it click or it does't do a thing !
the best thing is to get it from the junk yard! and take a 9 V battery ( small one ) to test the one in the junk yard !

i don't know how much it costs ! sorry !

Well, heres the thing: When the other people owned it, the hood flipped up when they were on the highway and smashed the rood, and antana. The antanna snapped, so i cut it and jb welded the tip on there, so it looks retracted.

    Yea, it does click too

    Basically.... no
I cut all but 1" off. Then,I cut the very tip off (the part with the little ball thing), then glued that to the 1" thats sticking outta the base.
Does that make any sense at all? :/

so now you need a new wire to insert into the antenna place ! right ? if so i would recommend going to the junk yard and try to find the whole assembly ! or at least the wire ( you said the motor makes a clicking sound which means it's working ! )

that humming sound is the motor turning. but nothing happens because the platic rod that pushes and pulls ur antenna up and down usually gets snapped. the rasons are bad platic, bad manufacturing. or even unlubricated pwt antenna mast. The first thing i did when i got my car was to lube the car and every time after a car wash, i lubed it, esp during the summer and sometimes during winter. MY antenna works like new. Never gave me a problem of either getting stuck or snapping. yeah its a bitch to replace. u can go to a store like pep boys or something and get a trunk mounted (like the 4g) pwr antenna which is better to troubeshoot since u dont have to dig up under the pile of wires and dash crap. Also yea, u would be needing a longer antenna wire which is not much i hope.

Ok, if I did put a new one on the trunk, is it possible to use the switch that I already have to control the on for the trunk? Wouldn't I just run the new wires to the switch and disconnect the old ones? Correct me if I'm wrong.
