new quartz clock

Ok i've had the Z clock with the stop watch in my center console forever, I got ahold of an aircraft quartz clock, It fit in the hole for the digital just fine, I think it looks good in the car because some of the early accords had quartz clocks from the factory. the red switch i put in is for the carb primer switch,i can flip it on from the drivers seat with my right hand, and flip it closed and off with the same. I've always had carb priming problems so while i'm wiring,i put this in. I still have to fill the holes from the digital and repaint the center piece black with trim paint.

it gets even better.took me all day to make that aluminum piece,thats all hand done,no cnc machines. I think i'll paint it black and polish the flat surface of it

i'm waiting for some kid at a car show to say cool i like your apc switch, so i can tell him that switch costs more then he makes at mc donalds in a month. it was discarded , FAA is coming ,they are throwing everything out. loss for them gain for me. it was for a turbine prototype

it's a turbine start switch, you have to flip it on until the engine spools up to a certain rpm before switching on the ignitors. i'm trying to make all this stuff look like aircraft,so thats why the thee dimentional aluminum piece.

I'm going to send my wife to the thrift store to look for a large black leather ladies purse , i need a piece of the thin leather to cover the flat part where the gauges are. 50 cents is cheaper then 30 bucks a yard,and it's the exact same thing.

when i EVER get the carbs done, it will be basically flip the primer switch for about 5 seconds, pull the choke to enrich the mixture, these are not true chokes,they are a mixture enrichment device, start the car and slowly push the choke back in. thats a cold start. I think they will be fine on hot start,although these carbs have some hot start issues. there are people who have the procedure figured out though. the choke is right above the center console where the cigarete lighter normally goes .

That is very cool. There is just something classy about a nice analog clock. I always thought it a bit odd that all of our gauges are analog and here's this green digital clock in the middle of the dash.

I am sure you are planning to post a pic of the finished install. I am really interested in seeing that. It might motivate me to hit the JY's looking for something similar.

it's an aircraft clock, if you search on ebay you might find one or look at sites for aircraft salvage places, they will probably be pretty cheap used. they are universal 12-24 volt operation. one plus lead one ground lead. there is a hole in the back of this one for a light,so i've got to work on making something that will illuminate it. these also have two sets of extra hands you can set to denote a certain elapsed time.

I am thinking of something like what came in the early Infinitis. It wasn't a look that really matched their gauges. The clock had something reminiscent of a nautical look.

Kind of like this, but not exactly. I may still have a look at some Infinitis in the JY since the low end cars also had the same kind of clock.

ok got the illumination figured out, i took apart an antique airplane transponder to get the special green bulb out of it, then ended up taking a 1/8 npt to -4 adaptor, boring it out on my drill press, then cutting off the -4 end,this screws into the plastic light bulb hole on the back of the clock. sounds easy but it took a while to figure out,then to get it right.
