so did the master cylinder today it was a piece of piss...bled the bastard before i put it on...hardest bit was taking off the mags to bleed them all...bled a whole bottle of black shit from the brakes and flushed them....fuck it was easy...saved my self $120 in the process....and yes stubie holders make awesome catch rags on the mc......

day shot of 17cl15vn plus t23 bracket on stock disks

integra king springs...would they fit? any one know? b18 cant be that much lighter?

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

so went to the junkyard today...it was raining so i couldnt do all i wanted to....pulled some 25t brackets, the visors from that doch accord and a front lip from an integra ls/sx 16 88 89 ish......visors are sweet and are on the car already...

the lip looks ok needs a bath in the rain and a coat of black...think its a little narrow accross the car and a bit long on the sides....itl be sweet so flimsy it should bend the new curve anyway with a little help...got some foggies to wire when i pull the bumper off also....couldnt find an original switch though...just have to put another out of site for the time being...

so was hoping to fit the brakes up but no suprise they didnt fit...turns out the 25t brackets are exactly the same casting and everything as the t23 i could probably make them fit i guess

oldblueaccord could you please do me a huge favor and look at the t marking on your bracket? if theyr the 23 or the 25 my hubs must be wrong? but they should right be since i have 4w disks? driving me crazy...

    fogies - check
front lip off integra - check (really fucking easy)

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

ok so i found out that the t markings refer to the thickness of the disks that are used and the brackets offset...any way measured the disks and they are 9.5 inch so im thinking i will be hunting for the bigger knuckles off the lx-i or australian equivilant..what a fuck around...guess thats what happens when u assume....

if i cant find the right ones on an accord i guess ill have to find them on the 85-87 prelude or something.. should be fun no doubt...does any one know what disks the jap spec b20a came with? would they be the bigger knuckles? might be able to get them from the wreck below

cheers budy...yeah if you scroll down theres a flick of them up close....they are 17s with 205/40zr17s on them....cost me 350 second hand..they are single piece starcorp le mans style rims....

yeah im getting to the tint...goto convert the aircon, finish brakes and suspension stuff first....trying to get the mechanical stuff sorted asap...but yeah ill probably do the 20% all round and on the sun roof as well.....

what brakes are on the front of your lx-i? itd be a massive help if you could grab a flickie of your hubs with a tape measure running horizontaly accross them for reference...probly good idea to inspect them and your calipers for leaks any way...if you havnt pulled the calipers of before theres 2 17mm bolts holding it in.use the closed end on the bolt head and give the spanner a tap to your right to loosten them.and 2 phillips head screws holding the disk on....10mins once you got the rim off....common..please? lol

looks like a tidy ride bro..just have to try and locate one in aus for the front knuckles...is the lip on the back standard? what other options did you get on the lx-i?

yep put the tape measure straight across the centre so it comes out between the tabs where the caliper bracket bolts to....and a flick of the numbers...just grab a piece of sand paper and rough them up...

heres the code on the ex knuckles so you get the idea

    http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/DSC00254.jpg

grab flicks of the setup all together and as you pull it apart as well..is that all good?

    cheers bud

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

Hey guy sorry I forgot about you.I have the aftermarket brackets they don't have the T- number on them.

I think you need to re=look at what you are trying to do with what parts you have. You got a rotor that works. get the stats(measurements) off it and try and match it to a bracket/ caliper set up. Don't get to hung up with some of the factory parts numbers there just not as good as a guide as you think.

You may be better off with an aftermarket setup thats available there then messing with parts that you may never find in a junkyard or never were even available over there.

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

yeah id still like them...even if it isnt the right part number the measurements would suffice..just need to be able to identify them on an accord as we dont have the exact same models designations over here..

yeah after market is a possibility but need to exhaust other posibilities first..im going to look at the junkyard on saturday and if i cant find a set i shall grab the 10.3 disks off a 90 ish integra and put them on for the time being...pretty sure they would be 4x100 since they put them on civic dxs with the type r calipers over here..at least the rest of the pad should touch the disk i suppose....

did 85-87 preludes have the same knuckles as the accord? might have a looksy at them also..

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

excellent buddy thats a big help....il see what i can find and ill have a look at the prelude knuckles as well for the right part number....

as for the prelude knuckles, we know that the upper arms fit of which i still have a set to put on...i also know that the lower ball joints are the same as the accord...we know that the tranny can be used which means that the axles should fit, that just leaves the shock mounting points and the tie rod arms to have a look at..i think the tie rod bushings are the same part also from memory...worth a look i suppose and they are more likely to have the bigger brakes....

your right, the preluds have alot more aftermarket performance parts. keep us updated on the work, if this works we could have another front break setup, and from the looks of it your set up will be much cheaper then the legend 11" rotor setup on the site.

Re: 11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

got 10.3 disks from an 88 lude today and took a few photos for r&d...

wagon 92 rear bar, i noticed that the white accord hatch below is actually a vigor...i was too busy looking at the motor lol....getting the rear garnish next time...are all the sway bars bigger from this model? shall measure next time...

88 lude suspension after removing disks...looks like it would fit...remembered that the strut bolt to the lower arm not the nuckle...what you reckon? front prelude knuckle conversion....maybe?

85-87 front suspension...pretty much the same as accord but small disks

88 2.0 si suspension with twin piston calipers but still 9.5ish disks...really hard to measure without taking them off though...

anyway check accord pics for the rest of the shit i got...

I think all those arms might work. I mocked up a 92? Acura arm on mine. Its the curve of the arm that is differant. I dont know what effect it may have on the alignment might be the problem or even if the tires could rub for some reason. The other thing I would check out is what ball joints they use making sure that the joint goes with the correct taper.

    10.3inch 3rd gen lude rotor + type r calipers

yeah im thinking so too mate...yeah the curve on the 3g prelude is deeper so if anything there should be more clearance....also the ball joints for the 4wheel steer arent as long so i would imagine the upper arms are part of the swap also...the 2g ball joints are really hard to get over here and i ordered the last set in the country only for the store to misplace them..so ease of parts is another plus...

another advantage is that the prelude comes with 10.3 rotors and the 17cl14vn (gsr) calipers. i put the disks on today with no trouble at all...note you may have to grind 1mm off the backing plate of the front pad to clear the hub on the rotor.alternatively you can take the metal shoe things out of the bracket (if you have the r calipers) this is fine since the gsr ones dont have them anyway...

so for those of you that dont have an lx-i you can grab the disks and calipers and bolt them on...88 si prelude is what they came off...(note i didnt check the stock bracket on the gsr calipers but it should be sweet..if its not then they are the same as the lxi hubs and your in luck anyway..just grab the v6 ones off the accord wagon(t25) or v6(t23 best fit) thats what i did

the pad completely touches the disk with no over hang so yeah looks like ill keep these for the moment until i find something better...

couldnt be bothered with the little twin pistons since the pads are the normal accord ones which are tiny compared to the v6 ones....the amount of pistons doesnt really matter unless the calipers you are comparing are the same size and use the same pad..

anyway as soon as i have the time and get sockets big enough to knock off the axle nuts, ill grab hubs and upper arms off the lowest km 2.0si 3rd gen lude i can find there....

btw how do you change the name of this thread? would like it changed to - 10.3inch 3rd gen lude rotor + type r calipers since the legend calipers have been long since abandoned
