    Haridev

My name is Haridev and i'm from ipoh, malaysia. my 1gee is a 1981 model. and the infomation is as follows.

my 81' accord. my dad bout it in 98' following an accident with another 81' accord which coused it to be totalled. after 10 years of daily use it had a rebuild which included replacement of tatty chrome fittings and a pearl metallic paint job. prior to the rebuild a year ago a power steering setup was added to the ride making the handling much easier. also, british light-weight sport rims made the car look much prettier and feel lighter at higher speeds. other than these upgrades, the car is still stock and the engine has never been rebuilt in anyway. a pioneer cassette system was added to give regard to the original pioneers which accords came with. the next project is to upgrade the interior. the dashboard and the door panels have been clean up with various (expensive cleaners). now the seats would be next. however im still toying with either P.U. covers or fabric.i give credit to my dad for putting up with my ideas.

the before pics indicate what i had to work with, she was in great shape as my dad looked after her real well but after a bad repaint job of the left front fender after a small mis-hap on the road, the car looked closer to the yard. rust was minimal with 3 spots behind the mudflaps and a spot under the rear tail lamp. all these were welded in a couple of hours. this is the before pic to show what i had to work with...

here are some pics of the accord under surgery. as you can see there was very little rust spots and minimal cementing was utilised. bt 95% of the chrome trims were removed as per my request.

The colour was taken directly from an S-class at a mercedes show room. i literally took the colour chart an put it against the S-class. its a form of pearl beige. the colour looks purplish brown under shade but where the shine is, it would indicate brown. under sunlight she looks brownish gold. tail lights, indicators, and several chrome trims were replaced with used original parts in good niche. the sport rims hailed from britain and are believed to be older than the car itself. it was told by the tyre specialist to be worth a lot in its day as it was used for track use.

pic of the car under light shade:

i spent a lot of about 4 expensive solutions and finally managed to restore the dash to an almost original condition. the dash has virtually no cracks but was completely faded. it took me lots of elbow crease (6 hours) to get it right. i removed to old tattered honda badge on the dash and have ordered a new one. it is currently fitted but i have yet to take a picture of it yet.

i repainted the valve cover, radioator, a/c compressor and the air filter cover to tidy up the engine bay a litte bit. apart from the speed sensitive power steering, the engine bay is completely stock, unrebuilt in any way. yet there isnt any smoke emitted while driving or even when flooring the gas pedal.

there are several minor modifications performed on my otherwise clean accord. amongst the obvious would be the power steering system, the light weight alloys and the pearl paint. also the player had been replaced with a high output unit and a set of 800w 3way speakers in the parcel shelf. also i have 200w oxygen tweeters in front, installed on the dash (not in pic). may chrome items were replaced with the OEM japanese part, rather than the taiwan repros. also the tail lamps were replaced as well. many other chrome parts like the bumpers, license plate lamps were replaced with 2nd hand OEM parts in good shape. i also tinted the glasses a light gold to give the car a rich look. i have spent a lot of time trying to get the car done 'right' as taylored the car to suit my dad's needs.

also, for added protection an alarm system with brake pedal activated central locking had been added to the car.
