Woah man. That's awesome! Always cool to see fans in other parts of the world. They've got some really great cars! Love the Accord 1800's with the square headlights. Just rad! Love seeing them side by side too, so you can see the facelift difference too. The older ones having a bit more recessed headlights into the grille, and the 1800 Sedans with the larger chrome around the hood, and no hood ornament. Makes them look a bit higher class European cars. Like a big square Bentley or Rolls Royce in a way.

I wish I could speak Japanese, I would love to be able to talk to them. I hate how people from every nation in the world usually can speak some sort of English, but we English speakers don't know any other languages. It's rubbish! I was going to take Japanese even, but my 8th grade teacher told me it was really hard and convinced me to take Spanish in high school. Wish I would have told her to F-off. Finally took Japanese class and found out how easy it really was. Easier than Spanish, for sure... But I took it my senior year and only got to take a couple semesters.

Sorry for the off topic rant.

Found a cool blog linked from there. Lots of pictures and scans of old Honda stuff if you scroll down on this page:

    http://diary.jp.aol.com/applet/ft2wexxspc/archive?b=60

Check out this crazy Honda designed by Pininfarina. Designed around the same time as the 2nd gen Accord. Sort of a precursor to the NSX.

Oh man I could look through their website all day long, they have lots of meets!

Funny those images won't load up until you visit that page first...

Yeah I love that chrome stuff in the gauges too. There's even chrome around the Horn buttons. I think I'm signing up for Japanese class so I can head over there!

That's not the same color as what my car should be. That's a little more brown / goldish color. Mine is a more red, burgundy. More bluish tint than that. I need some of those fender mirrors, that grille, and the signal lights! Looks badass!

Makes me want to get mine painted so bad!!!!

Re: First Generation Honda Accord Owners Club in Japan

Exactly what I was thinking about that '79 metallic red. It's really making me want to check colour codes, looks much more 'golden' than I remember my old burgandy 79's ( Versailles red? edit- Valencia red) but this is making me wonder if mine's the same colour. (Been thinking we should create a colour-code /picture thread -there are often several variations of a given colour). Read somewhere about a '79-80 Prelude Firethorn red?.

Love these 4-spoke wheels, so cool, older style but unusually 'open'.

I can't say I'm a fan of the bigger 1800 saloon dash but wouldn't have imagined they would have handled the window switches that way (Hazwans solution is much neater!)
The asymetric window control module & flash of fabric in the door trims is interesting though...Mild customizing ideas perhaps suitable for my Prelude.
Did you spot the remote petrol flap release on that one ? (I noticed my Preludes sill trim & petrol filler recess were revised for '81 to allow the option in Japan -but not fitted to mine).

Still not sure when they switched from the indicators integrated into the bumper to the US style ('79?). The rubber over-riders are interesting too. & seeing the painted bumpers.

Having got a pair of the recessed light mountings of the '77-8 models (each side from two Different '79's -sloppy repairers!) almost makes me want to try recessing a "flat" '79 grille to match (77-78 grille is curved with tunnelled lights).

It's been a while since I looked through the site properly.
Great that they are able to get so many cars togeather & that they were appreciated enough to survive Japans taxation culling of older cars.

I don't think it's a matter of when, but which models. I have a JDM 1981 pamphlet around here somewhere. Shows both of the bumpers available that year. Honda Japan just gets variations of all the different models, I think.

Haha last time we could change the URL for the image, using .txt extension instead of .jpg. They no longer works now.

I really like the color. Thats one of the color choice I had before my car is painted. Go get your 81 painted!!

I can get those mirrors (I think). Anybody?? lol

Come to think of it, I think the older dash look classier. That dash just look like another generic 80's Japanese cars.

I have the recess for the petrol flap as well, but we never get that option. My key never works anyway. I could pry the flap off with my nail I should've shaved the keyhole..

Wow... speechless here. John, be lucky you don't know Japanese! You'd be all over the Net looking at Japanese sites (and actually reading them).

In college, there was a 76 or 77 Accord 3 door that had the fender mounted mirrors at a local junkyard. I thought they looked totally gay back then, probably because they were so different from what I was used to. This junkyard had a PRISTINE 81 LX in blue that he told me I could have for $75. Since I was at college, I had nowhere to store it so I passed. This was all around 1990, so cut me some slack. Trust me, I wouldn't have the same answer today. I'd give him a hunny and tell him to call me when another one comes in.

Did you spot the chromed Hatchback door/window frame trims on this one:

Don't know if it was factory or not but I was wondering it about doing it also.

I believe they were authentic. I remember looking them over and over because they looked so weird. This yard got some really weird cars... not your normal wrecks. Hondas were probably still slightly exotic in the late 80's around there. This place was so old school-- rotary phone, that greasy/musty smell, route 66'ish even. He had all sorts of oddball engines and stuff, but he knew EVERYTHING about all of it. Hell, he knew Hondas as well as anyone. He sold me some new parts on the cheap one time. He called on the phone to get prices and was like"I won't charge you for the long distance charges" (pre Internet). Man, the parts were dirt cheap so I assume he was just going to work for the Hell of it. The place is now an apartment complex, but it was so fresh. And his inventory was not mainstream at all. It was right on the edge of campus, too. Really weird, but cool.

Yeah I've seen Malaysian eBay seller selling JDM parts before. I never sent car stuffs to anywhere else, but I heard horror stories with car parts going in/out from Malaysia. But I don't know, never experience it myself. It worth a shot selling JDM parts to you guys

So how about I send 2 sets of those bumper lights to you and John and see how it turns out? Even if the deal doesn't turn out well, its not a huge loss.

Can you give me the dimensions for USDM bumper light? USDM and JDM lights appears to be in the same size, but need confirmation first!

.. . . customs aint shit.. if you can get the parts, we can recieve them!! no need for testing. . do you have paypal or an ebay account?... i dont even need to measure the bumper lense, that jdm one is the same as the u.s. (the one that "hangs" on the bumper not the one with intergrated bumper lense). the question is, is the malaysia one the same as the jdm issue one?? looking at pics now, even the usdm/jdm/ and malaysia parts differ!!..?

Don't have PayPal yet, but I'll create one.

I need to know if the integrated light and the one that hangs on the bumper is the same. They appears to be the same to me. I need dimensions to confirm! We never have Accords with USDM style bumper over here, just the one with integrated lights.
