What does the transaxel mount really do?

I know its not on my car but I never had one so I dont know what I am missing. What does this mount really do for the car?

Are you talking about the two-piece component that is located at the bottom? This is the one that has a rubber part that mounts with slotted holes so you can center it in it's metal shroud after adjusting all the other motor mounts. I don't know for sure, but I think it limits the fore and aft movement of the engine/transaxle to limit stress on other components. If mine were missing or broken I would replace it, but then I am an anal retentive type.
