I'm beginning to believe that you enjoy working on this car more than driving it...

Just kidding. Good luck with the rebuild and hope you get it running quickly.

I assume you checked those cams you just put in .

It's hell when it's well, but seems to be calling in sick a lot.. lol
    just messing with ya..

edit, I just remembered, didnt that one time the gasket blew out the number one side, I have to go back and look at those pictures. I wonder if the block deck across the cylinders should be checked too.

    Re: The Joy's of a Boosted B20a

I think your over doing the stock bottom end. I know what your going through although my mishaps were much more expensive i did loose hope after awhile. But needless to say im invested to far to stop so im giving it another go. If i could go back before i busted the $10k limit i would get decent rods, forged pistons, ARP studs and go from there. I went overboard with my valve train and a bunch of other stuff that just blew my budget.

Right now im working on getting a OEM honda head gasket, then i need pistons, EMS, turbo, and finish my new manifold and i should have mine running. As fun as the boost is it definately brought on a rath of stress. But im addicted to turbo's so we shall see what happens in 2009.

    Wish you luck!

    Re: The Joy's of a Boosted B20a

When the head gasket blow it was at 6000rpms and the water went in the cyl that more likely what killed the piston. I should have pulled out the pistons and checked them before i put the head back on.

did you do a leak down test? doesnt necessarily have to be the piston rings.

    Re: The Joy's of a Boosted B20a

Cool i guess its good to experiment on this one then so you know what your doing when your boosting a more expensive build. If it makes you feel better i think im on build #4 my first one was my fault and i washed out the cylinders, second time i think was a boost spike, and the last time race engineering sold me rings that would not hold up to boost. The last one blew oil because of that so i beat it knowing it was coming apart.

Stock PK2-A 9:5:1 for right now i had PK2-B 10:5:1 maybe the step down in compression will help it last a little longer untel i get my other B20a done.

Check your valve lash it may be to tight keeping the valve open just a hair.

sheesh.. How does the cylinder look?

That polished piston looks sweet! now you need a window in your engine so you can see the shiny pistons :p
