    I have some eagle H beams i can compare to a old set of stock rods, but as far as the pistons go mine are dam near a flat top , pretty close to even with the deck or top of the cylinder. with the H beams.

    You figured it out LoL...

    Ok the OEM rod lenth from inside wrist pin to inside crank with out the bearing is

    103mm

    The eagle H beam is a bit longer at

    106.04mm

    the pistons I cant give any numbers on seeing that their in my engine.

    If there is anyone with a b18a piston that can mic the top of the wrist pin to the top edge of the piston and add it to the post.

    stock Is:
    19.90mm
    from top of wristpin to top edge of piston.

    19.99mm wristpin

    H beam wrist pin size:

    20.94mm

    now if we can get that final measurement we can see if there would be a differance mechanicaly or see if it will wash.

    I have a new pic, plus i need to edit the numbers... battery was dead on the micrometer.
    numbers were updated in the post above.
    when I get a chance i'll incert the numbers like before.

    So how far it sticks up when its at tdc?. i wouldnt imagine it would be much. Be nice to have a pic but you prolly wouldnt have one

    However, in working the numbers for a stock B18A I can't get everything to add up right. I suspect the B18A/B claimed deck height is a little off on the TI site.

    Anyway, the number you're looking for is the compression height, measured from the center of the wrist pin to the top of the piston. For the B18A/B it's 29.97mm. From my own measurements of the higher compression A20A3 pistons ('88-'89 Accord) I get a compression height of 29.77mm. So the difference is 0.2mm (0.008") with the B18A/B pistons being slightly taller.

    Trying to figure out the compression ratio change:
    The extra 0.2mm would remove about 1cc assuming an 83mm bore. The stock B18A/B dome volume is (supposedly, from the calculator above) 3.2cc. I've estimated the A20A3 dome volume to be 5cc (from my own measurements). So the total change in combustion chamber volume with the B18A/B pistons is -2.8cc, for a compression ratio of 9.8:1 (assuming an 83mm bore).


    Of course keep in mind that these calculations are just estimations and not hard fact. Over all I would say that switching to B18A/B pistons will probably give you a slight increase in compression ratio but probably not enough to make any significant difference.

    Another factor to consider though is weight. If the B18A/B setup is lighter it will rev up faster, possibly increasing effective torque to the wheels (as opposed to actual torque output).

    Old motor is out took the crusie out to damn bluky an looks cleaner. Swap over all the parts to the temp motor. So all needs tobe done is drop it in. Going to clean up the engine bay a bit an drop it but the hard part is done. Pics to come

    My tuner/builder is taking the timing belt shit off and swaping it over to the block im working on which is the temp motor.
