Might be going koni...few more Q's.

Ok I'm not switching from my tokicos to konis pretty soon. I ride on this road that is made out of concrete, and we all know how concrete gets when it gets old..its wavy and has cracks in it. Well my tokicos with my Weapon R coilovers, the car turns into a bucking bronco. It isnt bad, but its not what I want it to do. If I hit a hard dip, the car slams forward, and I have to slow down for it.

Hey Big Jimmy, would the konis fix this problem? How would it feel after I rode over those bumps? Would it be to rough and to stiff for me to stand in a normal day of driving? I have a tender ass, so I like to have a pretty nice ride, but not that damn bounce! Remember my drop is like 2.25" or more so would the konis wear out like the tokicos seem to have? I dont know if the tokicos have worn out or not honestly. On a normal interstate, the tokicos feel great, but when I hit a bridge crossing with patches on it, its terrible and I have to put 2 hands on the wheel if im cruising at about 80. Would the konis help me with this also?

Ok, im done being dumb.......I know they are stiff, but no one has really related them to daily driving, daily bumps, how they feel, etc..they just say "uhm, their stiffer".

    Thanks Dad,

    Nate.

Don't go for it. I first had tokicos with my ground controls and I experienced the SAME bronco feeling. The Koni's really helped out A LOT. It didnt bounce up and down anymore. It actually absorbed the bumps. I still run Tokicos in the rear though. If you can get them for the front first. I really think you will be happy.

At first i had the Weapon Rs with Tokicos and i hated them the coilovers were horrible. So i swithched them out with Eibachs and they were much better. I think the GC's have a better spring rate so theyre not as harsh as the weapon r's. I now have Koni's with H&R's which i love except the front needs to be like an inche shorter. The Koni's are wonderful and i wish they made the Yellows for our cars. The only thing i will change is the front springs for shorter ones.....

I dont mind the coilovers, but I have been riding on them for 2 years......so I know nothing else.

They do rattle though at times..really hard to tighten the sleeves around the tokicos.

I got a question if you don't mind. So I've got my Koni's (front only) to go with the Tokico springs. Since these struts are not externally adjustable, do you have a recommendation on where to start? As you can imagine, I'm into doing this job once.

    Cheers,

    Roland

Yes, set them one full turn off of full soft for the rebound setting.

I'll be getting me a pair soon also. The combination of heavy ass rims, low profile tires, and soft struts is unbearable. Where's the cheapest spot for them? Will they make the front of my car sit up or will it sit the way it does w/ the toxicos.

They will be the same, height wise as the tokico's. Cheapest place I've found for the front's has been either www.tirerack.com $216 or www.shox.com $212. But someone recently said they got them for $165, if was a recent post so it should be easy to find.

That was me I believe, but they were a find on Ebay.

With regards to your rebound setting recommendation, which way is full soft? It wasn't clear to me in the instructions that came with the struts.

    Cheers,

    Roland

Ok, with strut in hand push the piston rod into the strut all the way in. Now you need to make sure it has engaged the adjusting mechinism. Twist it while pushing down a bit until you feel it engage the adjusting mechinism. While pushing down turn the piston rod counterclockwise until it stops. Now while using some sort of reference point, while pushing down, turn the piston rod one full turn clockwise. Repeat with other strut(s).
