Hey man my bro bought a kit for like 100 bucks off ebay from hidking, he got the 8k's for his 91 maxima. They look great and were cheap. They are damn bright because his car didnt come stock with hid's so there is no cutoffs so they are bright man. Highly reccomend them.

to put hid's on the accord your going to need a h4 headlight housing and then the hid bulbs but just with that your not going to get a proper cut off and its going to blurry. i would recommend but costs more money is to retrofit some Acura TSX projectors into the h4 housings so you can get a proper cutoff and will look oem. i hate when people drive around in there honda civics with hids that totally blind you because they just stuck the hid bulbs in the housing with no projector.

    thanks mkymonkey

    Re: HIDs/Foggies

color line, meaning cut off??? you want a crisp cut off... if thats what you are talking about.

12,000K are not going to be 'light blue', they should be purple.

Like was mentioned above, the cheapest way will be some ebay h4 housings, and an ebay < $200 HID kit. It will look like shit and have NO cutoff, and lots of glare. But it will be HID's in your accord.

Lil mike has made the only useful post in the thread, he is dead on that you WILL NEED TO retrofit an OEM setup from S2K, TSX, etc to make this look right.

OP is right, 4000K-5000K I want to say has the highest lumens of light output. May not look as 'cool' but it will definitely let you see better.

color temperature is more of a science and not really up for interpretation... higher color temp results in going from yellow to white to blue to purple i believe. certainly doesn't go back to white as color temperature rises.

    Re: HIDs/Foggies

For the love of god don't just throw hid in some shittastic h4 conversion housings. It will just be glary and blind everyone else on the road.

Buy a good set of h4 housings (like Cibie or Hella), but a good set of bulbs (like osram silverstars or the hella +50% bulbs) and enjoy good lighting, good cutoffs, and non-ghetto headlights.

The optics of h4 housings are 100% (really 1000%) not meant for HID's. Don't let ANYONE convince you otherwise, especially someone looking to sell you some shit.

    Re: HIDs/Foggies

http://www.hid-conversion-kits.com/ this site has clear examples of color temp.

but its true, H4's with gooooood bulbs are decently bright, and are designed to work in a halogen housing/lens

    Re: HIDs/Foggies

When you decide on HID's, you need to decide on the power of the system. If you get a standard 35watt system, 5000k HID's will be slightly blue(just an example temp). I have 55watt 5000k in my BMW and the lights are white with a very slight tint of blue. Try to pick temps 4500-600k. Those are usually the belt outputs.

Also as people mentioned, don't go cheap. Your main issue is the housings. You don't want to blind other drivers.

    55watt 5000k in projectors.

    Re: HIDs/Foggies

to do a retrofit your probably looking at around $400-$600 to do it yourself.

    Pair of TSX Projector:$150-$200
A pair Ballasts: $150 or so
    Bulbs: $50 per bulb

if you just goggle DIY: HID Retrofit you get probably 1000000000 hits.

    You mean these:

    http://i1.ebayimg.com/02/i/001/11/44/40f1_1.JPG

And with that housing we can plug in an hid conversion kit? Oh and another question. To those with knowledge of HID's. I think it's fairly obvious...but the housings do have to be glass...so that the watever degree in K bulb we get doesn't melt anything right?

And as for the hid kit. Type in H4 HID kit in ebay and those would be good conversion kits to use?

Oh and with those autopals or hella housings. We still need to retrofit something like a tsx projector? Fuck...hid's are soo much work.
