    Alternators...

Will an alternator from an 86 2bl accord work on my 86'FI? I saw the P/N's are different, but i was wondering if it would still work. What would be different, connections? mounting is the same, correct? The amperage is the same, so it has to be different connectors if anything, right? thanks for any help.

the 2bbl uses a 3 wire plug and the Fi uses a 4 wire.

if it helps and you have the three pin plug you can jolin the wires and still use the 3 pin alt, the 4th wire wont make any difference. its a load sensor for the ecu

Its a load sensor for EFI's. If he doesn't have that wire hooked up the ECU won't compensate for the power draw i.e. raising idle when need be.

You could always wait until they get an FI car in.

I bought a new aftermarket one on eBay. It seemed decently made, but you never know. My original still has good bearings in it so I replaced the brushes and am hanging onto it for the future.
