    Newbie Here - 1989 2 door 5 speed SE-i

Hello from Canada with my project 89

Owned this car for a bit and even tried to sell it but after discovering this site I decided to keep it as a project.

Since these pics where taken I've welded on a used rad support from a 4 door Ex, installed new aftermarket condenser, rad, hood, LH fender. I finished the bodywork and now in the process of priming the body and parts. Will have more pics up soon.

Hooray! We saved another 3g!!!!! Welcome to the site man. That looks like a stellar project car. I can't believe the driver's seat leather isn't cracked. Wow! You have the OEM wing, stick shift, a flawless interior, even your antenna is whole. Does it still work? I bet with a little work and some elbow grease, you'll have a righteous ride. What's its story? What are your plans? I hope you're going to keep it stock. Keep us updated on your progress. If you have any questions or get stuck at any point, let us know.

Love your user name, by the way.

As soon as it gets warm you should deal with the leather. It looks much better than the usual SE-i at this age ..... must have been garaged, or you have no sun up there! Clean it with a leather cleaner, or just a damp sponge, then put some conditioner on it, wait a month, and condition it again. If you can keep the stitching from tearing out, particularly on the driver's seat, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor. Leather is expensive to fix, it cost me $400 just for the driver's seat.

Thanks for all the greetings everyone.

My project for today was lining up the popup headlights, oh the drama.

The antenna is a real mofo. I went to the junkyard and started breaking them until I figured out how to remove them. It attaches to the motor with a circlip. You have to find the motor under the dash and then contort yourself to remove the clip. That's half of it. Then you contort yourself to the other side of the dash to unplug the antenna wire from the deck. You might think you're golden at that point, but you aren't. The wire snakes around under the dash and until you've completely unthreaded it, the mast won't budge. It helps if you remove the trim panel below the steering wheel.

I have a working mast in my trunk awaiting installation. I'll be so stoked when I get that in. I'll be like the only working 3g antenna in the known universe.

You're probably right. Right after I got my car, and took it to the audio guy I've used in the past, he plumbed his memory for a few seconds and came out with something along the line of "No Fuckin' Way!" I took it to the Honda dealer and decided to put in a manual one at half the cost. It's not so hard to roll down the window, reach up and move it after all.
